Coming off a solid 6-4 win over Colorado, the Chicago Blackhawks head to Boston to take on the Atlantic Division’s Bruins.
The Bruins are coming off a tough loss to the Detroit Red Wings and will look to bounce back in TD Garden.
The Blackhawks have won five out of the last seven, after having having a stretch to finish 2016 where they won just one out of five. Chicago has proven to be inconsistent at times, struggling to find solid offense and put shots on goal. However, this team is still good and should be taken very seriously.
A nice surprise for the Blackhawks recently has been the play of left winger Vinnie Hinostroza. He has six goals and six assists on the season. He really started to figure out the NHL game in mid-December and, in his last game against Colorado, had a pair of goals.
Tanner Kero has had a wonderful last five games for the Hawks after being called up from the AHL’s Rockford Icehogs. He has three goals and two assists over the last five.
When the Hawks can get this kind of production from young, inexperienced guys, it takes some of the pressure off of the major stars like Toews and Kane. It also doesn’t hurt that Artem Anisimov has 18 goals this season and Artemi Panarin is right behind him with 17.
Boston has lost the last two and three out of the last five. Sitting 2nd in the Atlantic Division, the Bruins need to keep winning and stop giving up four goals to the Islanders or six goals to the Red Wings. Giving up a lot of goals to teams that aren’t very good doesn’t bode well for Boston.
This is especially true when the offense can’t make up for what the defense gives up. The Bruins are 17th in the league in goals this season, scoring 122 on the year.
Right winger David Pastrnak continues to be the Bruins’ best scoring option. He has 19 goals and 14 assists on the year, but doesn’t have a goal over his last five games. He does, however, have five assists, which has been a big help for the team.
Brad Marchand has picked up the goal scoring slack recently, and has four goals and six assists in the last five games. He’s second on the team in goals with 17.
To beat Chicago, Boston will have to play a complete game on both sides of the ice and limit Chicago’s shots on goal.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Chicago is 2-6 ATS in the last eight games
- The Total has gone OVER in four of Boston’s last six games
Free Chicago Blackhawks vs. Boston Bruins NHL Hockey Prediction:
Chicago has a lot of players playing extremely well over the last five games, including two very young players that were called up from the AHL. I think Chicago will take this W on the road.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Chicago ML
Chicago is mostly healthy, which is always dangerous for other teams. I like the Chicago money line in this one, based on the last five games the Blackhawks have played.
