The Metro-division New York Rangers will look to add to their point total, facing the lowly Carolina Hurricanes, who currently sit in 7th in the division.
The Rangers have received a balance scoring attack throughout their lineup, with 14 different players having double-digit point totals.
Carolina Panthers
Carolina still appears to be building for the future, as opposed to contending this season.
They’ve got some nice young players that are producing, but the depth just hasn’t been there. Consider a deep team like the aforementioned Rangers, who have 14 players who’ve tallied double-digit points, as compared to Carolina having just five.
Jeff Skinner is looking more like his 30-goal rookie season self than the player he’s been in recent years, currently leading the Canes in points with 19 points in 20 games.

Fellow young forwards, Victor Rask and Sebastien Aho, help pace the team behind Skinner, with 17 and 11 points respectively.
Carolina will need a lot more production from former top-picks, Jordan Staal, Elias Lindholm and Teuvo Teravainen, who each have 10 points or fewer.
Noah Hanafin looks to be the building block on defense, along with fellow US team standout, Justin Faulk.
The goaltending they’ve received from veteran, Cam Ward, has been a nice surprise after they re-signed the veteran to be a stop-gap solution until Alex Nedelijkovic is ready to step-in.
Ward has comprised a 7-6-3 record this year with a .918 SV% and a 2.24 GAA.
New York Rangers
As mentioned, the Rangers are receiving balanced scoring throughout their lineup, with some of their top producers being unlikely sources.
The lineup boasts the likes of Rick Nash, Derek Stepan, Mats Zuccarrello and Chris Kreider, but none of them lead the team in either goals or points.
Michael Grabner paces the Rangers in the goal-scoring column with 12, a former top pick who has just 116 career goals at the age of 29 now.
He’s been a nice surprise signing for the Rangers.
JT Miller is an excellent young player who has continued to develop in an all-round threat on the ice. Miller is tied with towering winger, Kevin Hayes, for the team lead in points at 19 apiece.
The loss of Mika Zibenejad hurts, as he’d performed well in a Rangers’ uniform since being acquired for fellow center, Derek Brassard, in the off-season.
Zibenejad has 15 points in 19 games before being sidelined, but NY has enough depth to overcome the loss.

Henrik Lundqvist has long been one of the top netminders in the league, but hasn’t produced the numbers this season we’re grown accustomed to.
On the year, Lundy has a .915 SV% and 2.43 GAA, good numbers- don’t get me wrong- but not otherworldly like we’ve seen.
Antii Raanta joins the team from the Blackhawks and gives the Rangers a great secondary option in net and potentially the heir apparent to the veteran, Lundqvist.
NHL Hockey Handicapping Trends
- The Rangers are 8-4-1 on home ice.
- New York is averaging the most goals for, at an average of 3.7 per game.
Free Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Rangers NHL Hockey Prediction
While the Hurricanes and the Rangers are in the same division, they aren’t really even in the same league.
New York is one of the best teams in the league this year and has the depth to make a legitimate Stanley Cup run, whereas the Canes continue to get their young players experience in an effort to contend in the coming years.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: New York -1.5
I don’t think this should be a particularly close game and will take the Rangers’ on home ice to cover the spread no matter who starts in net, likely Raanta. Carolina, at 2.4, is averaging over a goal less per game than NYR and the Canes have not been good on the road this year.
