Two teams that will not be making the playoffs this year will meet for their season finale as the Buffalo Sabres will travel to Little Ceasers Arena in Detroit, Michigan, to battle the lowly Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night. However, the Red Wings are winners of six of their last seven games while also coming out victorious in their last meeting versus the Sabres on March 28th.
Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres are in seventh place within the Atlantic standings, just one slot below the Detroit Red Wings. As one can imagine, their season has been horrible as they have only picked up two victories in their last ten outings.
They were able to pick up a huge win over yet another struggling team in the Ottawa Senators in their last outing thanks to a four goal explosion in the second and third periods. Kyle Okposo along wtih Viktor Olosfsson each scored power play goals in the win while point/shot leader in Jack Eichel also scored a goal, as well.

Eichel has 28 goals on the season while also racking up two assists along with three points in their win over the Senators. He has also posted three goals in the last eight games for the Sabres on a total of 30 shots.
However, the Sabres continue to stink it up on the defensive end due to a rash of injuries. To top it off, center center Vladimir Sobotka along with right-winger Alexander Nylander are both questionable for this matchup with Upper body and leg injuries.
Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings have also had to deal with a great deal of injuries on both ends of the ice all season long as well. In fact, right-winger Justin AbdelKader along with Thomas Vanek are both out with leg and abdominal injuries for this contest.
The defense, on the other hand, may be missing Danny Dekeyser along with Jonathan Ericksson, who are each battling leg along with lower body injuries. Nonetheless, both their offense and defense ranks within the lower echelon of teams within the league in all major offensive/defensive categories.

Dylan Larkin continues to be the point/shot leader for the team this season as he has a total of 32 goals on the season. He has posted five goals in the last six games for the Red Wings while also recording five assists along with ten points during this time.
And despite Detroit having a string of great showings recently, they continue to average just 2.8 goals per game on the year. They have won four straight at home entering this matchup with Detroit.
NHL Betting Trends:

4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Under
Look for the under to be the result in this game in that despite both teams having a tendency to struggle on the defensive end, the offenses for these squads continue to be hit or miss. In other words, Detroit will walk away with the slim, 3-2 win, however, look for the offenses to labor yet again as this has been the mantra all season.
NHL Free Score Prediction: Sabres 2 – Red Wings 3
The Red Wings have been dominant at home to end the season. On the other hand, the Sabres have dropped four straight on the road entering this contest, as pointed out. Look for the Red Wings to continue their hot streak as their season comes to a close on Saturday night.
