The Minnesota Wild host the Boston Bruins in a Saturday afternoon clash as both teams try to for two more points in the standings.

Boston
The Bruins are right in the middle of the very congested Eastern Conference playoff picture. Boston is in a three-way tie for 4 in the East with 64 points but just six points ahead of 10th place Montreal.
With the exception of the Washington Capitals who are 14 points ahead of 2nd place Florida, the Eastern Conference is a smorgasbord of potential playoff teams, including the Bruins.
Boston has been night and day at home and away this season. But unlike most teams who play far better at home than they do on the road, the Bruins have done the exact opposite. The Bruins are 17-5-3 on the road this year, but are only 12-14-3 while playing inside the TD Garden.

Though Boston has struggled mightily against Western Conference opponents this year, the majority of those losses have been at home. On the road, the Bruins are 4-0-2 against the West.
Boston has been stellar on offense ranking 3rd in goals, 4th in shots on goal and 2nd on the power play.
The defense, on the other hand, has been terrible. If the Bruins want to climb the standings in the crowded Eastern Conference, they must take advantage of the easier games on the schedule, including this one against a very desperate Minnesota Wild team.
Minnesota
The Wild are fading and they are fading fast. Thanks to an offense that can’t score and a defense that relies solely on goaltender Devan Dubnyk, Minnesota finds itself on the outside of the playoff picture with less than 30 games to go.
The Wild are in the midst of a seven-game losing streak and are just 1-7-2 in their last 10 games.

Minnesota has allowed at least four goals in six of its last seven contests. That doesn’t bode well for a team that has a tough time scoring. The Wild are in the bottom third of nearly every offensive category and recent talks about a possible coaching change have started to surface.
Minnesota is a talented group that is vastly under performing this season.
If the Wild don’t string together some quality wins soon, the rest of the season could very well be a lost cause.

Free NHL Hockey Prediction
The Wild are desperate for two points right now, but will they be able to get them at home against one of the NHL’s best road teams? They’ve played awful over the last month, and with the ongoing chatter about a potential coaching change, it’s hard to justify betting on them.
