The Boston Bruins have started 2017 at 1-2-1 and will look to add a second game in that win column when the team heads to St. Louis to take on the Blues.
St. Louis has won three of the last five, including a 4-3 win over Dallas on Saturday. The Blues will hope to grab a second win in a row on Monday.
Boston Bruins
105 is the current number for the Bruins. 105 goals scored and 105 goals against. This is a solid defensive number but a less than stellar offensive number. The Bruins have been having a great season on the defensive end, allowing less than 2.5 goals per game.
However, the exact same number can be applied to the goals scored average, which has made it tough to beat some of the higher scoring teams in the league.

Boston’s major weapon on offense this year has been David Pastrnak, who has 19 goals and nine assists on the season. He’s emerged as the top line right winger, playing with the likes of Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron.
The defense has been wonderful, as has the goaltending. Starting netminder Tuukka Rask has had a stellar season, posting a 20-9-3 record with a 1.93 GAA.
Beating a good team like St. Louis will require that same level of defense and goaltending, but the offense will have to step up and play better than average to win.
St. Louis Blues
St. Louis continues to be one of the three best teams in the Central Division, but definitely the third best behind Chicago and Minnesota.
While the Blues have stretches of great games, the team faulters on the defensive end.
St. Louis ranks 22nd in goals against on the season with 118. The team has a minus-four goal differential on the season, which has caused some problems against top-tier teams in the other divisions.
To have any shot once the Stanley Cup playoffs roll around, the defense will have to be much better.
[dfads params=’groups=234&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
Right winger Vladimir Tarasenko is definitely the Blues best player and a guaranteed All-Star. Tarasenko has had a fantastic year, posting 20 goals and 23 assists so far this year and leads the team with 43 points.
He has four goals and an assist in his last five games.
NHL Betting Trends:
- The UNDER is 3-2-0 in Boston’s last five games
- St. Louis is 3-2-0 in the last five games at home
Free Boston Bruins vs. St. Louis Blues NHL Hockey Prediction:
Two teams with similar records, solid play, and healthy rosters. This should be a pretty close contest.
Considering the competition that the Blues have to play in the Central Division all year, I give the edge to them at home. St. Louis gets the W.

St. Louis has played well at home this season and should continue that trend on Tuesday.
