NHL Handicapping Analysis
(9-1-2) Boston Bruins vs. New York Rangers (4-5-3)
Date: Friday, February 12th
Time: 7:00 PM ET
Venue: Madison Square Garden, New York NY
NHL Hockey Moneyline Odds: Bruins -170| Rangers +150
NHL Hockey Puck Line Odds: Bruins -1.5 (+150)
NHL Betting Total: 5.5
The Bruins are clicking right now, winners of four straight and tallying at least a point in each of their last eight games. Three of Boston’s last 7 wins have been in OT, but they still look like a solid play Friday.
The Rangers were one of the Bruins OT victims, although it was a good game in New York’s 3-2 loss on Wednesday. There’s seems to be value on NYR at +150, but then again they are just 3-3-2 at home.
Boston Bruins
Boston found themselves in a dog fight on Wednesday, but they flexed their muscles when needed with Brad Marchand scoring the game winner just 0:36 into OT.
It was the third straight 1-goal win for the Bruins, but that amazing 8-1-1 record over the last 10 games has helped Boston climb into 1st in the East with the second most points in the NHL (20).
While players like Marchand (4 goals in his last 5 games) and Patrice Bergeron (14 points last 8) are leading the Bruins offense, it’s also their defense that has fueled this run just as much.
The Bruins rank 3rd in the NHL allowing just 2.2 goals/game. Part of that success comes from allowing just 24.4 shots/game but also because Tuukka Rask (2.31 GAA) and Jaroslav Halak (1.72) have been great in net.
New York Rangers
New York would seem to be a high powered offensive team on paper with the likes of Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad on the ice, but the Rangers are struggling to score with just 2.6 goals/game (24th).
Panarin has done his part with 15 points on the season, which is tied for 12th. He’s also battling a lower body injury and is questionable Friday. Zibanejad is in a slump, scoring just 1 point the last 9 games.
All things considered the Rangers did play well in Wednesday’s meeting. They snuck two past Rask while firing off 14 and 15 shots in the 2nd and 3rd period. A late Kevin Rooney goal gave NYR a fighting chance.
Alexander Georgiev was also solid in net, stopping 29 of 32 Boston shots while making his first start in the last 11 days. Igor Shesterkin may start Friday, and he’s allowed 2 goals or less in four straight.

Free Boston Bruins vs. New York Rangers NHL Prediction:
Boston is on an incredible points run right now, and it’s hard to go against them in any given game. That’s especially true since so many of the Bruins wins have been close lately.
There’s not a ton of value in the Bruins way up there at -170, because this streak is getting to the ‘ending soon’ phase of its run. What is likely is a low scoring game with Rask and Shesterkin between the pipes.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Under 5.5
Rask had a few slip up games, but has buckled down over the last two.
