Currently 3rd in the Atlantic Division, the Boston Bruins will look to gain some ground in the division when they head to New Jersey to take on the Metropolitan Division Devils.
The Devils will look to bounce back after a 6-2 to the Capitals on New Year’s Eve.
Boston Bruins
The Bruins finished the month of December at 8-5-3 including winning back-to-back games at the end of the month. The Bruins will look to build some momentum after a December that saw them struggle to find momentum and consistency.
The offense has had its issues throughout this season and it’s been tough at times for the Bruins to score goals.

The team ranks just 19th in the NHL in goals scored (95) and the team’s goal leader, David Pastrnak, has had some recent struggles. He has zero points in his last five games, despite having 19 goals and seven assists on the season.
Left winger Brad Marchand has had a solid season, including a good five-game stretch. In his last five, he has a goal and three assists for the Bruins. He has 10 goals and 21 assists on the year, and will look to add to his points total against a poor New Jersey team.
For the Bruins to get their third win in a row, they’ll need a solid effort from their goal-scorers and will need to get the puck to the net.
New Jersey Devils
Sitting in last place in the Metropolitan Division, the Devils’ season is all but over as we start 2017. New Jersey has had woes on both sides of the ice this season and are a minus-28 in goal differential for the season.
The defense has been horrendous. The Devils have given up 114 goals on the year, and are 25th in the league in goals against.
It hasn’t helped that the Devils’ offense can’t score, along with not being able to defend. New Jersey is fourth worst in the league in goal scoring.
It’s even worse for the Devils knowing that star Taylor Hall might not be able to go in this game. He’s missed the last two games with a lower body injury and his status is unknown for Monday.
Hall got off to a good start this year and has been an important factor for this Devils team that doesn’t have a lot of depth. In his last five games, he has three assists, giving him eight goals and 15 assists on the season.

The Devils have to play better on both offense and defense if they have any chance of beating a good Boston team.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Boston is 3-1-1 in the last five games
- The UNDER is 3-2 in New Jersey’s last five games
Free Boston Bruins vs. New Jersey Devils NHL Hockey Prediction:
New Jersey is poor on both offense and defense, and pretty much don’t stand a chance if Taylor Hall doesn’t play. Boston has had a good year and is great on the defensive end. This should be a W for the Bruins.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Boston -135
Boston has a better team, despite its offensive struggles. This should be a pretty easy win against a bad Devils team.
