Winners of four of the last six including a Tuesday night victory over Anaheim, the slightly better looking Arizona Coyotes head to the United Center to take on the bye week-rejuvenated Chicago Blackhawks.
Chicago, coming off a wire-to-wire victory over Minnesota in Minnesota, will head back home and look to get a home win against a team that it should easily beat.
Despite being the third worst team in the NHL in scoring and the fourth worst team in goals allowed, the Arizona Coyotes have looked slightly better in recent games.
Winning four of the last six, the team has wins against good squads like Pittsburgh and Anaheim.
In those six games, Arizona has 20 goals, an average of 3.33 per game, which is well above the team’s season average. On the year, Arizona has racked up just 140 goals in 58 games (a 2.41 goals per game average).
Defensively, Arizona has allowed just 14 goals in those six games, an average of 2.33 per game. On the year, the Coyotes have given up 183 goals, or 3.16 per game.
Who knows if this run of play will continue, but it will certainly take a lot to beat a fantastic Chicago Blackhawks team.
Offensively, the team will look to center Martin Hanzal to continue playing great hockey. He has three goals in his last five games and has been a major factor in the recent Arizona wins.
The bye week clearly did Chicago some good.
The team is 2-1-0 since coming back from that mandatory rest period and, if it weren’t for some unlucky bounces and one of Cam Talbot’s best games in goal, the Blackhawks would have beaten Edmonton and sit a 3-0-0 since the break.
Chicago finished off Minnesota in St. Paul on Tuesday night in solid fashion, tallying five goals on Devan Dubnyk, which isn’t something that many teams have been able to do this season.
The top line of Richard Panik, Jonathan Toews, and Nick Schmaltz scored all of the team’s goals and combined for 10 total points.
Jonathan Toews has been wonderful since the All-Star break and he clearly took the buzz about him not being All-Star worthy to heart. He scored a hat trick against Minnesota and has four goals and five assists in his last five games.
The captain is back and if he continues playing like he has recently, there’s a good chance this Blackhawks team will be heading deep into the playoffs later in the spring.
NHL Betting Trends:
- Arizona is 4-2 SU in the last six games
- The Total has gone OVER in four of Chicago’s last five games
Free Arizona Coyotes vs. Chicago Blackhawks NHL Hockey Prediction:
The Blackhawks are rested, healthy, and have their captain playing how everyone knows he can play. Against an Arizona team that normally isn’t good on either side of the ice, the Blackhawks will get the W at home in this one.
4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Chicago -1.5
Chicago has been firing on all cylinders recently and that bye week looks like it has rejuvenated this team on both ends of the ice. I predict Chicago will cover the spread in this one against a poor Arizona squad.
