This is a battle between two non-playoff teams but still could prove to be an alright day at the rink.
Much to the dismay of their fans, the Canucks are on a win streak and the Ducks enter with a recent record of 4-2 through their past 6 games.
Anaheim Ducks
With a 21-35-8 record on the year and just 50 points to their name, the Ducks are tied for the second-worst record in the Western Conference. In fact, they’re just a single point up on the Chicago Blackhawks for last place in the West.
They’re on the second of a back-to-back set after falling to the Seattle Kraken Tuesday night by a 5-2 score.
Offense
Up front with 21 goals, Trevor Zegras is the lone forward to have hit the 20 goal mark for the Ducks this season as they head into Vancouver.
As a team though they’re averaging just 2.51 goals scored per game which is the second-least in the league behind the Blackhawks. On the power play, Anaheim has the third-worst conversion rate at just 16.5% this season.

Defense
On the back end it gets even worse.
At the deadline they traded their top offensive defenseman in John Klingberg to Minnesota and defensively they rank dead-last with 4.03 goals against per game. While their penalty kill is technically better than Vancouver’s this season, they’re third-worst with a 73.6% success rate.
Goaltending
In net, all three goaltenders that have played for the Ducks this season are sporting goals against averages above 3.70.
They have a team goals against average of 3.90, which is worst in the league, and a middle of the pack team save percentage of .897.
Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks are coming off of back-to-back wins for the first time since December 27th of 2022 following wins over the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Nashville Predators.
Following a puzzling trade deadline for the club, they took down the powerhouse Maple Leafs on Saturday night in a 4-1 victory where goaltender Thatcher Demko played like a stud.
Two days later they doubled down with a win against the visiting Predators who made it a close one after coming back from a 3-1 deficit. The game would go to a shootout where netminder Arturs Silovs would hold down the fort for the 4-3 win.
Offense
Overall, this season hasn’t been one to remember for the boys in blue but the one positive they can take away is that their offense has been potent and we’ve had a number of players come into their own.
They’re averaging 3.32 goals scored per game and their power play is operating at a 22.8% success rate on the season, both ranking 11th across the league.
With 19 games to go, Elias Pettersson is two goals away from matching his career high of 32 goals which he set in 80 games last year.
In his first year, Andrei Kuzmenko sits at 29 goals and 56 points on the year while Quinn Hughes is 8 points back of his career high of 68 points in a single season. In addition, Hughes recorded two assists in the win against Toronto to become the fastest defenseman to reach 200 assists in NHL history.
Defense
On the negative side, their defense has been atrocious this season. Whether it’s been their blown leads or their inability to stop a beachball at times, the Canucks have the second-worst goals against average of the year at 3.87 goals against per game.
On special teams, their penalty kill been dead-last since the get go. At 67.9%, they sit nearly a full 5% back of the next worst team but they do have 9 shorthanded goals on the season.
Goaltending
Currently Vancouver’s team save percentage is in the gutter and sits at the bottom of the league with a .877 marker.
That’s in part due to Demko not playing up to his capabilities and then getting hurt for the better part of three months.
Since returning from injury though, he’s looked good in the three games he’s played. More recently, the past two games have shown the Demko we all know is there with a 1.52 GAA and a .959 save percentage against Minnesota and the Maple Leafs.

Free Anaheim Ducks vs. Vancouver Canucks NHL Prediction
The last time these two met it was an absolute goal-fest, with the Canucks coming out on top 8-5.
At this stage of the season, keep it simple and go with the offensively minded Canucks on the puck line who are backed by solid goaltending with Demko back in the fold.
