Wednesday, December 12th brings you an NBA matchup between two of the Eastern Conferences bottom feeders, as the New York Knicks travel to Cleveland to take on the home town Cavaliers live from the Quicken Loans Arena.
Cleveland has dominated this Knicks team over their last 10 head to head matchups, winning eight of them, but this is a different Cavaliers team now, and the Knicks can start to erase the past few years of heartache with a win here on Wednesday night.
New York Knicks
The Knicks come into Wednesday night with a four game losing streak, and six of seven overall. They haven’t been too strong on the road this year either, winners of only four of 11 games outside of Madison Square Garden. This is the first of a three game road trip for the Knicks, as they will also travel to Charlotte and Indiana on the trip as well.

The Knicks were losers in their last game against Charlotte on Sunday night, losing by a score of 119-107. In that game, the Knicks shot a decent 47.3% form the field and 50% from three point land. They were 6 of 7 from the free throw line, and had a total of 47 rebounds. All stats that should spell a win for them on the road vs. Cleveland.
Kevin Knox led all scorers in Sunday night’s game in 41 minutes off the bench. The only Knicks starting player in double digits was Tim Hardaway Jr. who had 21 points in 35 minutes. All in all, only four players were in double digits in scoring for New York. It’s great to get three double digit scorers off your bench in a game, but it only really helps when your starters can score the ball too.

Injury Report: PG Trey Burke and SG Alonzo Trier are both listed as “questionable” for Wednesday. SF Lance Thomas and PF Kristaps Porzingis are both listed as “out” for the Knicks.
Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavs come into this game losers of three of their last four games, with a win against Washington sandwiched between losses to Golden State, Sacramento and Milwaukee. This is the first of a three game home stand for Cleveland, a place where they have won the majority of their games this year.
In their 108-92 loss Monday to Milwaukee, the Cavs shot just 37.5% form the field, which made their 33.3% deep ball look pretty good. They will definitely need to get their free throw numbers up against this Knicks team, as they shot a lowly 67.7% from the stripe. Another stat that will go a long way towards a win on Wednesday is their ability to out-rebound the Knicks. They had 56 total rebounds on Monday night.

Larry Nance Jr. led all Cavaliers in scoring with 16 points in 25 minutes off the bench. Collin Sexton led all starters with 15 points in 32 minutes. Jaron Blossomgame had a double-double off the bench with 11 points and 10 rebounds in 26 minutes of action.
Injury Report: SG David Nwaba is listed as “questionable” for Wednesday’s game. C Tristan Thompson, SG J.R. Smith, and PFs John Henson and Kevin Love are all listed as “out indefinitely” for Cleveland.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Knicks are 3-6 ATS in last 9 games vs. Cleveland
- Cavs are 12-2 SU in last 14 games vs. New York
- Over Under is 3-6-1 in team’s last 10 head to head matchups
Free New York Knicks vs. Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Prediction:
Cleveland appears to be playing slightly better basketball at the moment, if you can actually say the word “better” when describing these two teams.
The Knicks are the scarier team though when all cylinders are clicking, so even though they have struggled mightily on the road this year, they still hold the upper hand if they actually show up.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Knicks -1.5
It’s not much of a spread, but take the Knicks to win by more than two in this one. The O/U sounds about right for these two teams, so I’m going to leave that one alone for now. Look at the recent betting trends to gauge that decision for yourself.
