It’s an Ivy League showdown on Friday night.
The Yale Bulldogs travel to Boston to take on the Harvard Crimson.
This is the second match up of the year. Harvard won the first match up 75-67.
The Yale Bulldogs were having a great season up to a few weeks ago. On February 10th the Bulldogs had just beaten Dartmouth and were 6-1 in conference play.
They looked like they were going to be going dancing, as long as they kept on their pace. The only problem was the Bulldogs didn’t stay on that pace.
That February 10th game was the last time the Bulldogs won a game. Since then they have gone 0-3 and fell to third place in the Ivy league and the dreams of them making the NCAA Tournament are dead.
The problems with the Bulldogs as of late have been on the offensive end. Over their last five games they have only scored 65 points per game, down from their season average of 72 points per game.
The Bulldogs are led by Freshman guard Miye Oni.
On the season he is averaging 13 points 6.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. For the Bulldogs to pull the upset he and his teammates are going to have to a big game on the offensive side of the ball.
The Harvard Crimson have had a good season up to this point but need a win in this game to keep their chances alive for an NCAA Tournament automatic berth.
They currently sit two games behind Princeton but they play them again, so they do have a shot if Princeton would lose another game to make the big dance.
The Crimson come into this game with a record of 16-7 and sit in second place in the Ivy league.
The Crimson are led by Freshman guard Bryce Aiken. He is averaging 14.3 points, 2.9 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game. Even if the Crimson don’t make the tournament they have a huge part of their future in Aiken.
For the Crimson to win they need to continue to play good defense. Yale has been struggling on the offensive side of the ball and the Crimson don’t want to let them get back on track in this game.
