Friday night Big Ten action will see the Wisconsin Badgers take on the Purdue Boliermakers. Wisconsin is right in the middle of the pack in the conference standings, while Purdue has overall struggled. This game is very important for both sides to improve their resumes because otherwise it is going to be hard for either side to get an at-large bid.
Wisconsin Badgers
The Badgers are 5-3 in the Big Ten this season, and have signature wins over Maryland, Ohio State, Indiana and Penn State. Two of these four wins came at home, so they are 2-2 on the road against the Big Ten. They most recently beat Nebraska 82-68.
Wisconsin may have one of the worst offenses in the country as they only average 67.3 points per game. Shooting just 43.2% from the field is 207th in the country and 34% from the three-point line is sitting at 147th.
The Badgers average only 59.8 points in conference road games, so this could be a huge issue. Where are they going to find points and can they score more than 60? The only way the Badgers offense is going to thrive is if Nate Reuvers can take over. He is averaging 14 points per game, which leads this team. Other than Reuvers, Wisconsin has just one other guy who averages 10+ points, so they will need their role players to provide a ton of production.

As for defense, the Badgers come in as one of the best in the country. They are the 17th ranked scoring defense, allowing 60.6 points per game. The defense is Big Ten road games has not really dropped off at all and they are only allowing 61.3 points per game.
Keep in mind that this is still a Big Ten road game, so the key for Wisconsin will be getting off to a fast start.
Purdue Boilermakers
Since their blowout win against Michigan State, the Boilermakers have dropped two games in a row. They most recently lost to Illinois at home by a score of 79-62. They find themselves in trouble right now, only 3-5 in conference games and need to string together some wins.
Purdue also has a pretty anemic offense as they rank 277th in the country, scoring 67.6 points per game. Their shooting is way down, averaging just 41.4% from the field.
They have seen a minimal increase when playing at home in conference games. They average 68.5 points per game in these situations. Their scoring averages are way down too, with their highest scorer averaging just 11.3 points per game. They have two other guys who average 10+ points or more but overall, they also need some role players to step up.
Defensively, Purdue is also one of the best in the country, allowing an average of 60.5 points per game. Most impressively, the Boilermakers allow just 28% from the three-point line, the 9th best in the country.
Slowing down Reuvers is the key for Boilermakers getting pretty much a must win at home.
