Both teams eliminated early in their conference tournaments meet in the First Four as the Vanderbilt Commodores take on the Wichita State Shockers on Tuesday.
The winner of this game will enter the South Region and take on the 6th seeded Arizona Wildcats in the next round.
Wichita State Shockers
The Shockers entered the MVC conference tourney as the 1 seed and looked like they were poised for another conference title.
However, things took a turn for the worst when they ran into Northern Iowa. The Shockers trailed for a majority of the game and couldn’t get any clutch stops down the stretch as they fell and were ultimately put on the bubble.
The schedule in the MVC is rather weak, which didn’t play into any advantage for the Shockers, but their reputation in the past, combined with a win over Utah may have been just what they needed.

Vanderbilt Commodores
Vanderbilt opened their SEC tourney play as a favorite against the Tennessee Volunteers, but things did not go according to plan.
After beating Tennessee on Senior Night, the Commodores may have been looking ahead and flopped against them 67-65. Vandy trailed by double digits for a majority of the game, but the comeback fell just short.
Vandy went into the tournament as a 4 seed, as they finished conference play at 11-7.
The Commodores will go only as far as Wade Baldwin IV will take them here. The sophomore guard has averaged 14.3 points to lead the team. He also leads the team in assists with 5.2 per game.
