Wichita State Shockers
Wichita State has turned it on a little bit with a four-game winning streak but look a little closer and it isn’t as encouraging as it may sound for the Shockers.
Three of the four games were at home and all four opponents are in the last five spots in the American Athletic standings. After seven consecutive seasons in the NCAA Tournament, it looks like WSU will have to settle for something less this time around.

Next year will be a different story. Only the two leading scorers will graduate. Everybody else will be back. Leveraged for minutes played, Wichita State’s average experience, per player, is 0.7 years.
Three freshman are playing at least 23 minutes per game, too. This poor season was a necessary step in rebuilding the program that lost so much the last couple years. Look for Wichita to not just improve next year, but even in the last couple weeks of this season.
Cincinnati Bearcats
Cincinnati lost at Houston a week ago and hasn’t been in action since. The Bearcats stayed in the game because they only turned it over four times all game to Houston’s 11, but there just wasn’t enough offense. UC shot in the 30s from the field and Jarron Cumberland finished 9-for-25, though he scored just about half of his team’s points.

UC will play the next two games at home. If it can keep pace with Houston from here on out, it will have an opportunity to earn a split of the conference championship when it hosts the Cougars on the final day of the regular season.
