The Clemson Tigers have not been able to gain any type of real momentum throughout the year. However, they have now won three straight contests as they picked up a win over the struggling Georgia Tech Yellowjackets in their last contest. With the victory, Clemson has allowed less than 45 points to their opponent for a second straight game.
The Virginia Tech Hokies halted a winnning streak of their own with a setback versus the Louisville Cardinals most recently. In all, the Hokies performed less than stellar in this outing while also missing out on an opportunity to advance to 4th place within the ACC.
While the offense for the Tigers has struggled throughout the season, Marquise Reed (17 ppg, 5 rebs) has led the team’s offensive charge this season.
Elijah Thomas (14 ppg, 7 rebs) has also provided some big minutes for the Tigers as well as he continues to get better on both ends of the floor as the season progresses.
Nonetheless, the key to the Tigers current outstanding stretch of play can be attributed to their defense, which allows just 64 points per game on 41% shooting. In fact, the Tigers have only allowed 70 or more points in just two of their last ten games.
Clemson has also been dominant at home lately as they were victorious in three straight games at Littlejohn Coliseum. Fortunately for the Tigers, Reed has posted at least 26 points per game twice during these outings. .
Virginia Tech Hokies
The Virginia Tech Hokies will look to right themselves quickly as they remain a huge threat to top tier teams within the ACC. However, their high-scoring offense was grounded due to a great defensive effort by Lousiville in their last outing. Their leading scorer in Nickeil Alexander-Walker (18 ppg) ended with 17 points on 4-9 shooting while Kerry Blackshear Jr. led with 21 points in the loss.
For a team that thrives on controlling the pace, this was certainly not the case for the Hokies versus Lousiville. They will now look to shore up on both ends of the floor, particuarly on defense, as they allowed 46% shooting to the Cardinals. Of course, this was uncharacterisitc of a defense that allows just 40% shooting per game to opponents on the year.
This will be the first matchup of the year amongst these teams. However, the Hokies were able to pick up a seven point victory in their last meeting versus the Tigers on February of 2018. Finally, the Hokies have won three straight road games.

Free Virginia Tech Hokies vs Clemson Tigers NCAAB Prediction:
This will be one of the more interesting contests of the weekend as a dangerous offense for Virginia Tech will travel to take on a resurgent Clemson squad that has been lights out on the defensive end.
Like their last outing versus Lousiville, look for the Hokies to struggle, yet again, versus a Clemson team that has not allowed 70 in their last four games.
Also, Look for Clemson to struggle as well as the Hokies will look to rely on their defense to keep this matchup low-scoring.
In the end, the Tigers will get decent performances from Reed and Thomas, as usual, as Clemson will pull out a slim victory in what will be a highly competitive matchup by a 77-74 score.
4* Free NCAAB Betting Pick: Clemson Tigers -1.5
I will back Clemson for this contest with the points as the Tigers have simply played too well on the defensive end in which to count out.
Of course, while their offense has struggled, however, look for them to hit some critical baskets down the stretch while blowing Virginia Tech’s chances of keeping pressure on Louisville for 4th place in the ACC.
