The Cavaliers are doing their thing again. They use their awesome defense to crush pretty much any team put in front of them.
South Carolina is hoping for some magic like they had a couple of seasons ago. It doesn’t look likely to happen this season…and this one could be less than pretty.

The Cavs are a perfect 9-0 and winning by an average margin of 21ppg. They might not be the most entertaining but how do you argue with that.
DeAndre Hunter has zoomed to the top of the pack, leading the team in scoring and rebounding from the wing. He is an NBA calibre talent.

Kyle Guy and Ty Jerome both score 13ppg. That makes them productive but they are also one of the more experienced backcourts on a power team anywhere. Both shoot over 40% on threes too. They are so solid.
Inside the Cavaliers do not get a ton of production but the way they play both offensively and defensively they do not need it. They will not be exposed inside most nights, including this one.
South Carolina Gamecocks
They have played some good teams but it has been tough going for South Carolina so far this season. They lost by 20 at home to Wofford. Everyone loves Wofford but that shouldn’t happen.
Freshman win AJ Lawson from Toronto has looked good, leading the team in scoring but like most freshmen he struggles with consistency. There are not a lot of other scoring threats either.

Big man Chris Silva was a part of the team that went to the Final Four a couple of seasons ago. His numbers have gone up with experience but he has not really developed into anything more than complimentary player.
South Carolina is a light offensive team. They don’t have a lot of shooters or creativity to work with and execution is just OK. Against Virginia they are really going to be in a tough spot.
