Virginia Cavaliers
Up to No. 5 in the AP Poll, Virginia comes into the ACC/Big Ten Challenge undefeated at 7–0 but faces another stiff road test.

The Cavaliers have already gone on the road and held Syracuse to thirty-four points in a win in the first game of the season.
They most recently held Maine to twenty-six points. In fact, the only team to break fifty against UVA so far this season was Vermont, which lost a close game, 61–55.
Virginia’s 40.3 points per game allowed this season is the best in the nation. It also has the lowest opponent field goal percentage (.288) and has allowed the fewest free throw attempts (50) and makes (34).
The Cavaliers may have lost some NBA talent from the National Title team a year ago but it has retained the strong sense of defensive identity and discipline.
Purdue Boilermakers
That means Purdue is going to have to win this one. It will not be able to depend on Virginia beating itself.

The Boilermakers finally got a relevant victory last Friday against VCU, 59–56. Otherwise, it has three close losses to quality opponents.
It lost at home to Texas by four, at Marquette by ten, and then by three, in overtime, to Florida State on a neutral floor. Purdue can play but it’s still looking for an even better non-conference win in one of its last chances (it plays Butler on Dec. 21).
Fifth-year senior Jahaad Proctor leads the team with nearly fifteen points per game so far this season. He started his college career at Iona before transferring to High Point and sitting out a season.
He averaged double-figures for the Panthers of the Big South, including nearly twenty per last season.
