Texas Longhorns
Texas beat Iowa State, 72–68, on Saturday afternoon and made a move up the Big-12 standings, where it is now at .500.
Courtney Ramey scored all fourteen of his points in the second half and hit the biggest shot of the game — a three-pointer to put Texas up one with just under a minute to go.

Jericho Simms, the junior big man, continued to flourish on the offensive end with fourteen of his own to go along with nine rebounds. He has developed into a two-way threat here in his third collegiate season.
Matt Coleman was the third Longhorn to score fourteen. He had half of his team’s eight assists.
But Iowa State, which came into the game without a road win in conference play, led for most of the second half. Texas didn’t exactly look like a team that is ready to come into Phog Allen Fieldhouse and compete with Kansas.
Kansas Jayhawks
The Phog was where Kansas was on Saturday afternoon, when it won a hard-fought victory over Texas Tech, 78–75, to keep pace with Baylor atop the Big-12.
KU started fast but Tech never gave up. Jah’mius Ramsey scored a game-high twenty-six for Texas Tech but missed a layup on the game’s final possession with the Raiders down three.
Devon Dotson played all forty minutes and scored twenty-one points for Kansas. Three of his fellow backcourt mates — Ochai Agbaji, Marcus Garrett and Isaiah Moss — joined him in double-figures.
David McCormack returned from his two-game suspension for his role in the brawl at the end of the game against Kansas State last weekend. He had six points and six rebounds off the bench, as Bill Self was loath to give his starting spot back immediately.
Christian Braun hung onto the spot he inherited when McCormack went out. He had just six points but gathered five boards and played good defense. He’s a straight-away shooter that defenses can’t afford to help off of.
Lastly, Udoka Azubuike was quiet. He scored just five points in sixteen minutes as foul trouble had him on the bench early and often. It wasn’t the worst scenario. He’ll be well-rested and eager to play well with Simms coming in.
