SEC play rolls on as the Tennessee Volunteers head to Rupp Arena to take on the #15 ranked Kentucky Wildcats.
The Volunteers, fresh off a tough one-point loss to Georgia over the weekend, will look to win in one of the tougher venues to play in.
It’s been an up-and-down season for Tennessee. The team has had some solid SEC wins and some bad SEC losses. One of those solid wins came in the last meeting against Kentucky, where the Volunteers were able to come away with an 82-80 win.
Tennessee stunned a Kentucky team that was playing fantastic ball and was able to contain stars Malik Monk and Edrice Adebayo just enough to squeak out the win.
To beat the Wildcats again, the Volunteers will have to limit Mok, Adebayo, and De’Aaron Fox. If this trio gets going, it’s tough to beat Kentucky. Tennessee, on the offensive end, can really play. The Volunteers score 77 points per game and get production from all over the floor.
Senior guard Robert Hubbs has been fantastic for the team, averaging 14.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
Freshman forward Grant Williams has played well, also. He’s averaging 12.5 points on 54% shooting from the field. And junior guard, Detrick Mostella has been important for this team. He’s putting up 10.5 points per contest.
After that surprising stretch where Kentucky lost three of four, including a 22-point blowout against Florida, the Wildcats have started to look like themselves again.
Kentucky has won the last two games and will look to exact revenge on a Tennessee team that beat the Wildcats in their first meeting.
The Wildcats have all the pieces to win out and capture the SEC title, but it’s going to require consistency on both ends of the floor. Kentucky has to start playing better defense in order to take pressure off of the offense.
After a poor 11-point showing against Florida, Malik Monk has looked more like himself in the last two games. He put up 23 against LSU and 17 against Alabama. However, he needs to put forth more effort on defense and on the boards. He has a total of two rebounds in the last three games.
Edrice Adebayo has had a good year, averaging 12.9 points and 6.9 rebounds. He’ll look to have a big game as he did the last time these two teams met.
CBB Betting Trends:
- Tennessee is 5-2 ATS in the last seven games
- The Total has gone UNDER in four of Kentucky’s last six games
Free Tennessee Volunteers vs. Kentucky Wildcats NCAAB Prediction:
After a couple of surprising losses, Kentucky has looked strong in wins over LSU and Alabama. I expect the winning Wildcats to show up in this one and get the W in Rupp Arena.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: Tennessee ATS
Kentucky hasn’t been covering spreads against weaker SEC teams like you’d expect. I like Tennessee against the spread here, even though I believe Kentucky will ultimately win the game.
NCAAB Free Score Prediction: Tennessee 73 – Kentucky 83
