This SEC-Big 12 challenge game will see the Tennessee Volunteers travel to Kansas to take on the Jayhawks. It will be the first game for Kansas since the violent brawl that took place, so consequences have already been handed down.
Tennessee Volunteers
The Volunteers are having a bit of an average year compared to last season. This was expected due to the loss of talent, but now is their chance to get a signature win. Tennessee is probably a fringe tournament team at the moment, but beating the number three team in the country would likely move them into the conversation.
The offense for the Volunteers is easily one of the worst in the country. They average just 66.5 points per game. Jordan Bowden and Lamonte Turner are tied for the lead in scoring, averaging 12.3 points per game. However, note that Lamonte Turner is out for the season with a shoulder injury. John Fulkerson also adds an average of 11.5 points per game. These two guys are specifically going to need to best at their best if the Volunteers want a chance to win.

Tennessee’s defense has been a top 10 squad this season. They allow just 59 points per game. Teams are shooting 37.7% from the field, the 14th best mark in the country. On the road, their defense is still only allowing 66.5 points per game, so they certainly have the ability to slow down Kansas.
Taking advantage of Kansas’ suspended players will be a must if the Vols want any chance to pull out the win.
Kansas Jayhawks
The Jayhawks blew out Kansas State in their last game by a score of 81-60. We know the rest of this story as a massive brawl broke out because a Kansas player decided to taunt his rival. Silvio De Sousa then thought it was a good idea to pick up a steel chair like he was in a WWE match an almost hit one of the opposing players. Luckily, someone had the awareness to take the chair out of his hands.
De Sousa has been suspended for 12 games, and David McCormack has been banned for two games. These two guys combined for 2 points in their last game, so at the very least, the Jayhawks will not exactly be losing one of their top scorers.
Kansas’ offense is still pretty solid this season, averaging 76.7 points per game. They are shooting 49.5% from the field, the 7th best mark in the country. Devon Dotson is the leading scorer for the Jayhawks, averaging 18.2 points per game. Udoka Azubuike is the second highest scorer, averaging 12.9 points per game. He leads the team in rebounds, averaging 9.5 per game.
On the other side of the ball, the Jayhawks are allowing an average of 60.6 points per game. This is the 15th ranked scoring defense in the country. Teams only shoot 37.5% from the field, the 11th best in the country.

Free Tennessee Volunteers vs. Kansas Jayhawks NCAAB Prediction:
Even with the suspensions, Kansas is clearly the better team and I believe they will roll at home. Kansas’ offense has proven to be much better at home and because of that, I like the over to be the play.
