SEC action tips on Tuesday as the Tennessee Volunteers visit the Georgia Bulldogs. This contest is the next-to-last regular season outing for both teams.
While Tennessee has steamrolled through the second half of its latest SEC slate, Georgia has dropped nine consecutive games. The Vols (12-4) sit fourth in the stacked Southeastern conference. At 1-15, UGA anchors the division.
Today’s contest is the first meeting this year between Tennessee and Georgia.
The Vols open Tuesday’s matchup as -16 favorites for a game where they must focus to avoid any slippage heading into tournament play.
Tennessee Volunteers
Tennessee kept its perfect home record intact by outhustling then No. 3-ranked Auburn over the weekend. Following a lukewarm conference start, the Vols have won seven of eight while cementing an inconsistent offense. Behind Santiago Vescovi’s 14 points and Zakai Zeigler’s 13, UT out rebounded Auburn 54-31 to earn its biggest win this season, 66-62. More so, the Vols have scored 70-plus points in six of their last eight conference games.
That run has made Rick Barnes and Co. a rising three-seed in Joe Lunardi’s latest projections. The Vols also boast the SEC’s highest Net rating at #8 overall.
Given earlier losses this winter vs. Alabama, LSU and Kentucky, Tennessee is peaking at the perfect time with major tournament action just ahead.
Overall, the Vols average 105.2 points per 100 possessions and allow 89.9. Though, as stated, Tennessee currently enjoys fewer offensive dry spells from its capable rotation.
UT shoots 42/34/71% and ranks among the most complete college basketball offerings. It’s hard to envision Tennessee stumbling against Georgia this week -though slightly odder things have happened.
Georgia Bulldogs
After suffering through their worst season in almost 50 years, Georgia holds low expectations heading into the team’s latest outing. Treading a cold-comfort winter, Tom Crean’s men haven’t found any momentum while suffering loss after loss. Opposing teams have also roitinely covered against UGA, as the ‘Dawgs are 0 for their last five against the spread.
Visiting Florida scored an 84-72 win over UGA last Sat. to dampen the Bulldogs’ hopes this week against confident Tennessee.
Despite their protracted losing streak, the Bulldogs did enjoy a 4-1 ATS mark from Jan. 25 through Feb. 9. However, as noted, UGA has lost is last five against the spread. Major defensive lapses have seen Georgia cede 80 points or more in each of those contests.
The Bulldogs average 100.6 points per 100 possessions and allow 111.8.UGA is among the nation’s worst defensive groups and opponents shoot 47 percent overall and 34 percent from deep against the Bulldogs.
UGA’s lone bright spot is the recent play of sophomore Kario Oquendo. The 6-4 guard tallied a season-high 33 points in a recent outing versus Texas A&M.
Georgia nets 44/32/75% shooting.

Free Tennessee Volunteers vs. Georgia Bulldogs NCAAB Betting Prediction: Tennessee Volunteers Win ATS
Georgia realizes its season is a total wash. Tennessee, though, is a finely-tuned machine approaching the big contests it was built for.
The only way UT fails to cover on Tues. is if Barnes gets conservative with his starters’ minutes. I also don’t see UGA rolling over in the team’s final 21-22′ home game.
That stated, the stats favoring Tennessee are too lopsided to ignore vs. the hard-luck Bulldogs. Take UT with the points on Georgia’s floor.
