Saturday Big 12 action will see the TCU Horned Frogs take on the Baylor Bears. It is safe to say that these two teams are trending in opposite directions. The Bears are already pretty much a lock for the tournament, while the Horned Frogs are desperately trying to find some notable wins.
TCU Horned Frogs
The Horned Frogs are struggling right now, losing their last two in a row. They are now 4-3 in the Big 12, but do not look like a team that should be in the Big Dance.
One of the biggest problems with TCU, is their offense. They average just 69 points per game. This ranks 250th in the country. The Horned Frogs also are not a good shooting team, averaging 43.4% from the field. Their three-point shooting does rank at 85th in the country, so they have had a little success shooting the long ball.
Desmond Bane is by far their leading scorer, averaging 16.4 points per game. Other than him, they have two others who average between 11.5 and 12.4. After the top three guys, the next highest scorer averages 7.4.
Another concern is their ability to score on the road. Averaging just 59.5 points per game is not going to get the job done against this Baylor defense, so scoring needs to be improved.

Defensively, the Horned Frogs are actually doing a decent job. They allow just 63 points per game. This ranks as a top 40 scoring defense.
However, just like how their offense struggles on the road, so does their defense. They are allowing an average of 74.8 points per game. That being said, I do not expect them to all of a sudden turn things around against the number one team in the country, so expect some struggles.
Baylor Bears
As of right now, the Bears are clearly showing they are the best team. They have not lost since November and are locked in right now. Being at home only makes this team better, where they are 9-0.
It is not like Baylor is an explosive offensive team though as they score just 72.4 points per game. They also have just three main scoring threats on this team, starting with Jared Butler, who averages 15.4. points.
Defense is where the Bears do majority of their dominating, allowing just 58.3 points per game. This is the 5th best scoring defense in the country. Furthermore, they hold teams to just 38.2% from the field. That shooting percentage drops to 34.9% when they play at home.
Containing Desmond Bane is the key here for the Bears. Slowing him down will force another TCU guy to step up, and the Horned Frogs just do not enough depth on their roster.
