It certainly has not been the strongest season for St. John’s this season. Quite frankly, I expected them to be playing better right about now than they have been.
The Red Storm lost to the Providence Friars on Tuesday by a score of 86-82. They hung tough against one of the best teams in the conference, but ultimately came up short.
This year, there are a lot of very good teams that reside in the Big East and I just do not put this team in that mix. I am not saying that they have no talent or coaching, but they have a long way to go if they wish to be thought of as one of the better ones.
The offense was certainly not the issue for them in their last game, but the defense simply did not play at a high enough level. For the most part, they let the Friars do whatever they wanted to do out there, which really is not all that surprising.
Georgetown Hoyas
Boy, has it been a rough year for Georgetown so far. No matter which way you try and spin int it is impossible to find a positive twist to what they have done thus far.
Currently, the Hoyas have a record of 6-13. Listen, I am not sitting here saying they would have had some great season in 2021-2022, but I never thought they would be playing this poorly.
This group dropped to the Seton Hall Pirates on Tuesday by a score of 70-63. They played a little better in the second half, but it was not enough to pull off the upset.
Whether these guys go against the best team in the conference or just an average team, you never feel like they are going to get the win. Losses have just become what this club has gotten used to this season.
