The Gamecocks beat the Missouri Tigers on Tuesday by a score of 71-69. Sure, they won the game, but it really was that convincing, especially when you consider the kind of opponent they went against.
When you look at all the talented teams that are in the SEC, this team still has a lot of work to do before they are in the same breath as some of the top dogs, which likely will take some time to happen.
Both Devin Carter and Jermaine Couisnard had 17 points in their last victory. James Reese also chipped in 13 points in that game.
Auburn Tigers
Listen, there is no question that Auburn is a very good team, but they are not quite as dominant as some people thought they were just a bit ago. They have certainly come back down to Earth a bit, which is not exactly a bad thing for them.
At the moment, the Tigers have a record of 26-4. Given the conference they play in and the teams they have had to go against, it is hard to be all that critical of that record.
They picked up a win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Wednesday by a score of 81-68. They did just what they needed to do against a team they are simply better than.
As is often the case, Jabari Smith had a very good game in their last outing. He finished the day with 27 points and 10 boards. This kid has been nothing short of amazing for them this year and if he keeps on playing at this level, his team has a great shot at winning the whole thing.
