Seton Hall will be looking to extend its three-game winning streak when it travels Philadelphia to take on #15 Villanova.
This is the final meeting between these teams after already playing back on New Years Day. Villanova kicked off the new year with a tight 73-67 victory on the road. Collin Gillespie led the Wildcats with a team high 21 points.
Seton Hall Pirates
Seton Hall got off to an excellent start this season, winning 9 of its first 10 games. The Pirates recorded wins over then-No. 4 Michigan and then-No. 7 Texas during that stretch, with their lone loss coming against Ohio State.
They struggled to open Big East play, losing 6 of their first 9 games. Seton Hall has been able to bounce back from that rough stretch with three straight wins, beating Georgetown, Creighton and most recently No. 25 Xavier.
The Pirates were able to hold on for a wild 73-31 home victory over the Musketeers and narrowly cover the -1.5 point spread in the process. Seton Hall led by 10 points at halftime and had to fight off a furious Xavier comeback. Jared Rhoden was the offensive catalyst in the win and finished with a game high 25 points and 8 rebounds for the Pirates.
The Pirates are better defensively than offensively, ranked No. 68 in KenPom’s adjusted offensive efficiency ratings. They are not shooting the ball well, listed at No. 280 in effective field goal percentage.
Guard Jared Rhoden leads the Pirates with 15.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Second-leading scorer Bryce Aiken, who was scoring 14.5 points per game, is unfortunately out indefinitely after suffering a second concussion.
Villanova Wildcats
Villanova did not get off to the start that it was looking for this season, going just 7-4 through its first 11 games. The Wildcats were blown out by then-No. 2 Baylor and Creighton during that stretch. They bounced back with a 6-game winning streak in early January, which included a 73-67 win over Seton Hall in the first meeting between these teams. Villanova has won 5 of its last 6 games coming into this contest, with the lone loss coming on the road against then-No. 24 Marquette.
Villanova is officially a game back of Providence for the top-seed but they are two back in the loss column. A 4th loss for the Wildcats this weekend to Seton Hall would almost certainly eliminate them from the conference title.
The Wildcats are an outstanding offensive team, ranked 8th in adjusted efficiency. Their shooting numbers have been good as a whole, with their free throw percentage ranking 1st in the country at 82.5%. They are also doing an excellent job of limiting turnovers, sitting at No. 20 in turnover rate.
Senior guard Collin Gillespie leads Villanova with 16.5 points and 2.8 assists per game. He is battling an injured ankle, but he is expected to play on Saturday. The Wildcats have one of the most balanced lineups in the country, with five players averaging double digits.
CBB Betting Trends:

4* Free Seton Hall vs. Villanova CBB Betting Prediction: Villanova ATS
Villanova has been nearly untouchable at home, winning 18 of its last 19 games. The Wildcats have also gone 17-1 in their last 18 home games against Seton Hall, so this has been a sea of horrors for the Pirates.
The Wildcats are not going to beat itself and it is going to play their typical excellent defense once again. Seton Hall’s shooting has been hit or miss this season, which does not bode well in a hostile environment.
Another key factor in these types of games is free throw shooting and there is no one better in the country than Villanova.
Take the better team to win and cover on their home court this Saturday.
