The UCLA Bruins host the San Jose State Spartans for a Sunday night contest.

After kicking off the season with a 4-0 record the Bruins have lost three of their last four games. The Bruins have a balanced scoring attack led by Chris Smith (12 ppg), and Jalen Hill (11.6 ppg).

San Jose State on the other hand is 3-4 on the season. The Spartans are led by Seneca Knight who is averaging 11.9 points and 5.6 rebounds.

San Jose State Spartans

The San Jose Spartans are coming off an 83-48 loss against the Oregon State Beavers on Wednesday. Oregon State took control early on as they held a 45-24 lead. The Spartans shot only 30 percent from the field while allowing the Beavers to shoot a scorching 55 percent.

Samuel Japhat-Mathias was the only San Jose State player to score in double-figures. The center finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Seneca Knight (1/10 fg), and Christian Anigwe (1/8 fg) struggled mightily against the Beavers defense.

The Spartans had issues containing Ethan Thompson (17 points) and Alfred Hollins (16 points). San Jose State must cut down their turnovers (18 turnovers) if they want to have any shot at beating UCLA on the road.

UCLA Bruins

The UCLA Bruins are coming off a 1-2 record at the Maui Invitational. On Monday they lost to BYU, and then on Tuesday they blew out Chaminade like most expected. On Wednesday in their final game against the Michigan State Spartans they lost 75-62.

The Bruins were extremely competitive leading throughout the first half before getting outscored 39-29.

Chris Smith led the Bruins with 13 points on 3-of-5 shooting. Cody Riley went for 11 points and six rebounds in the loss. The Bruins had some issues in defending Cassius Winston in stretches as he had 20 points.

The Spartans shot 46 percent from the field and the Bruins shot 39 percent. Tyger Campbell and Prince Ali added 10 points apiece for UCLA.
