Two struggling Big 12 squads in the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the TCU Horned Frogs will square-off amongst one another on Wednesday night at 9 p.m. eastern time as the Cowboys will visit Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, to battle the TCU Horned Frogs in an all-important Big 12 matchup.
The Horned Frogs have suddenly went inconsistent on both sides of the floor recently as they have dropped two straight games while also falling to the middle of the pack within the conference as they fell to the Baylor Bears on the road in their last outing.
The Horned Frogs went down by 14 at the half while being destroyed in the second stanza as Baylor outscored the visitors by a 51 – 36 margin en route to the victory. On the other hand, TCU dropped their fifth straight road game overall with the defeat.
On the other hand, the Oklahoma State Cowboys continue to lose as well as they could find no offense on the road versus the Kansas State Wildcats win their last time out as despite shooting 55% from three-point range in connecting on 11 3-pointers on the night, the Cowboys allowed the Wildcats to light up the nets from the perimeter as the visitors shot well over 50% from the field as well as from three-point range in the victory.
TCU Horned Frogs
As stated, TCU has certainly lost its way in conference play as they fell to 4-5 on the season as they lost versus the suddenly surging Baylor Bears in their last outing.
Aside from getting 17 points from JD Miller along with 15 from Kouat Noi, leading scorer on the season in Desmond Bane has struggled in recent losses for the Horned Frogs as he has averaged just 9 points per game in their last five defeats.
However, Bane continues to average a tad over 14 points per game while pulling down five rebounds per outing for the Horned Frogs in addition to shooting 49% from the floor.
Defensively, TCU has also struggled as they have allowed an average of 87 points per game during their current two-game losing skid.
And while the Bears have struggled offensively all season, the Horned Frogs allowed the home team to convert on 35 of 63 field goal attempts on the night while also making good on 15 three-pointers in the contest as Makai Mason led the team with an astounding nine 3-pointers as he finished the game with 40 points to lead the Bears.
While I believe that TCU will certainly come out of its offensive funk sooner or later, the defensive effort must certainly be there moving forward as it has been a staple of their success throughout the season. In fact, the Horned Frogs have allowed 80 or more points in just three of their last 10 games, overall, with two of those debacles being in their last two contests.
Look for TCU to get back on track in this contest versus an Oklahoma State Cowboys team that has failed to reach the 65 point mark in two of their last three road games.
In fact, the offense for Oklahoma State is averaging just below 70 points per game on only 41% shooting on the season.
On the other hand, TCU’s offense must also increase their production as well as they may indeed find it difficult, yet again, in which to obtain quality looks versus a Cowboys squad that prides itself on the defensive end in allowing just 70 points per game on 41% shooting from the floor.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Of course, Oklahoma State will certainly be looking to put in a much better defensive effort versus the struggling TCU Horned Frogs in this matchup on Wednesday night after allowing the Kansas State Wildcats to destroy them from the perimeter in their last outing.
Again, the Wildcats, who have struggled for much of the season, connected on 50% of their shots, or better, both from the perimeter as well as from three-point range as Dean Wade along with Barry Brown Jr. combined to go 8 – 9 from 3-point range on the night while finishing with 24 and 18 points, respectively, for the Wildcats.
On the other hand, Oklahoma State shot as dismal as ever at 40% from the field while connecting on 11 three-pointers throughout the contest as Curtis Jones provided a lift off the bench in scoring 12 points for Oklahoma State while Lindy Waters III also chipped in 10 points, as they were the only double-digit scorers on the night.
Leading scorer for the Cowboys in Cameron McGriff struggled from the floor in this contest by ending with just 8 points while pulling down four rebounds in defeat.
And while McGriff has been the spark to their offensive charge throughout the season for the Cowboys, Waters III has certainly stepped up to the plate as it relates to offense for the Cowboys recently as he is averaging 16 points per game in their last four outings.
In all, the Cowboys will look for much more consistency on the offensive end versus the TCU Horned Frogs as they may indeed be able to catch TCU in a very vulnerable position at this point in the season on both sides of the ball.
However, in order to ensure victory in this contest, the Cowboys must be able to assert themselves on the defensive and versus a potentially dangerous offense for TCU that is very much looking to come out of their present offensive slump.
On the other hand, the offense for Oklahoma State will look to push to paste consistently in this contest if they will also be looking to pick up easy buckets in transition while also obtaining opportunities in which to convert at the free throw line through out..

Free Oklahoma State Cowboys vs TCU Horned Frogs NCAAB Prediction:
TCU will certainly have a golden opportunity in which to get back on the winning track at home versus the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Wednesday night. However, the problem with the Horned Frogs at this point in the season is that they have not been able to consistently get the ball to their leading scorer in Bane in recent outings.
Of course, with the drop-off in offensive production, this has certainly put an enormous amount of pressure on what was once a solid defense for the Horned Frogs. In all, look for the home team to improve upon these vulnerabilities in this matchup as I certainly see TCU performing much better on the defensive end versus a struggling offense for the Cowboys in this matchup on Wednesday night.
In other words, look for TCU to get back on the winning track as they will pick up a convincing victory versus the Oklahoma State Cowboys by an 85 – 65 score in the end.
4* Free NCAAB Betting Pick: TCU -9
Of course, one can certainly expect the Cowboys to bring the focus and intensity on the defensive end in which to somehow continue to neutralize a TCU offense that has went off the deep end lately.
Nonetheless, this will not hold up over the duration of 40 minutes as the Horned Frogs will find a bit of momentum and confidence throughout the contest in which to pick up a much-needed conference victory, primarily due to their ability to push the pace on the offensive end while making it that much harder for a struggling offense for Oklahoma State to convert on the offensive end.
