Memphis keeps on playing a very good brand of basketball, but I am still not sure if what they have done is enough to make March Madness. None of that matters, though, if they go on and win the American Athletic.
The Tigers beat the SMU Mustangs on Saturday by a score of 70-63. That was a good win for them over a team that has played well this season and was the #2 team in the conference.
Of course, their opponent is a very good team, but right about now, this group should feel good against anyone they go up against. I do not see them viewing the Cougars as a task too tall.
In their win over SMU, I was very impressed with the way this team played defense. They will look to bring that same intensity to that side of the ball on Sunday afternoon.
Houston Cougars
Nationally, Houston may not be the most appreciated team out there, but they have had one helluva season so far and it would not shock me at all if they made some serious noise once the real deal starts up.
The Cougars come into this game with a record of 28-5. It is hard not to like what this program has been able to do in the 2021-2022 season.
This bunch beat the Tulane Green Wave on Saturday by a score of 86-66. They did just what they had to do against a conference foe that is nowhere near the same level as them.
The offense looked really smooth for them in their last win. Kyler Edwards was the leading scorer with 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists. Taze Moore also added in 17 points and 7 dimes.
