The Golden Eagles last played on Saturday, where they beat the Butler Bulldogs by a score of 64-56. They did not off to a great start, but their play improved a lot as the game went on and they were just too much for their opponent to handle.
To me, this is a team that nobody really wants to face, whether it is in the Big East Tournament or in March Madness. It would not shock me if they got hot at the right time and became a very dangerous team.
In the win over Butler, I really liked the way this team played defense. The offense was not great, but it did not have to be, as they held their opponent to under 60 points, which is never an easy thing to do.
DePaul Blue Demons
For one reason or the other, DePaul just has not been able to play all that great this season. Even when they seem to take a step forward, they seem to take two steps backwards.
The Blue Demons come into this game with a record of 14-14. It is hard to have all that great of a season when you are constantly hovering at or near that .500 mark.
This program beat the St. John’s Red Storm on Sunday by a score of 99-94. That was a nice win for them over a team that has more talent than they do.
Javon Freeman was excellent for them in their last win, as he went for 39 points and 8 rebounds. David Jones also had 24 points and 5 assists. When you score that many points in college hoops, you know that your offense is doing something right.
