Marquette may not have gotten off to the best start this season, but they did finish a lot better. Overall, I liked the way they played.
The Golden Eagles took care of the St. John’s Red Storm on Saturday by a score of 85-77. Even though the team they beat was not the best in the conference, it was still a solid victory for this program.
Based on how this team is playing right about now, I do not think many teams really want to face them, whether that be in the conference tournament or March Madness. There is no question that this is a dangerous ball club.
The offense was really clicking for these guys in their last game. Justin Lewis was the leading scorer with 28 points and 7 rebounds, while Darryl Morsell had 20 points and 4 assists. When they are a rolling, this team can be very hard to contain on the offensive side of the ball.
Creighton Bluejays
Other teams in the Big East may be getting more talk, but Creighton deserves some credit. They had a strong regular season and it would not surprise me if they made some noise.
The Bluejays ended up going 20-10 and 12-7 in the conference. It is hard for me to be all that critical of that.
This crew lost to the Seton Hall Pirates on Saturday by a score of 65-60. They were just never able to find their rhythm and did not have many answers for the Pirates, especially down the stretch.
Although they lost to a solid team in Seton Hall in their last game, it still would have been nice to see this group knock them off. Really, those are wins they should be getting.
