Loyola-Chicago Ramblers
They may not have gotten a lot of attention on the national level, but that does not mean this Loyola-Chicago team didn’t play well. Overall, I was very impressed with their brand of basketball throughout the course of the season.
The Ramblers last played on March 6th, where they beat the Drake Bulldogs in the Missouri Valley championship by a score of 64-58. That was a solid win for them over a team that had a strong year themselves.
Although they ended up with a good win and loss mark, I really do not see that one signature win on their schedule over a team that is all that dangerous. That is expected, though, given the kind of teams they went up against for the majority of the season.
Even though they did not beat either of them, this team did keep things pretty close with Auburn and Michigan State. I do not expect the Ramblers to be intimidated by this Buckeyes team, as they know they can keep up with the tough competition when they are on their game.
Ohio State Buckeyes
I would categorize the season that Ohio State had as a weird one. There were certainly times in which they looked like a very good ball club, but there were others where they were not impressive at all. It is fair to say, consistent was not one word to describe them in the 2021-2022 campaign.
In 30 games, the Buckeyes went 19-11. With that, I feel a number 7 seed is pretty much right where they ought to be. Earlier on, there were thoughts they would be a much better seed, but they did not exactly finish how they wanted to down the stretch of the regular season and into the conference tournament.
This squad last played on March 10th, where they lost to the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Big Ten tournament by a score of 71-68. I do not care what anyone says or the kind of excuses they try and make, those sorts of losses cannot happen for this team and frankly, they should be embarrassed by that result.
If a team like Purdue, Wisconsin, Illinois, etc, had knocked them off in their conference tourney, then you can live with that, as all of those teams are better than the Buckeyes. But, Penn State? Really? Wow!

With that said, Loyola is more than a capable team and even though it might seem weird to say, I feel they are the better basketball team at the moment.
This is the type of game that I can see being back-and-forth throughout, but I see the Ramblers making a few more key plays to get the job done.
I like Loyola-Chicago to pull off the 7-10 upset on Friday.
