BYU hung around for the entire first half and in the opening minutes of the second but KU stretched it out right around the first media timeout of the second and BYU just kept sinking.
Like we expected, the Cougars struggled to score the way they are accustomed to against Kansas’ defense. Not only do the Jayhawks have all that size but the guards really get into you on the perimeter. It’s a luxury they can afford with Udoka Azubuike on the backline ready to protect the rim.
What we didn’t expect was how much of the game was reserved to the half-court. BYU took care of the ball and KU didn’t get out in transition. That’s at least one thing Dayton can take and add to its blueprint.
Dayton Flyers
The start of Anthony Grant’s third season at Dayton has been perfect thus far. A win and Maui Invitational Title on Wednesday would really have people talking about his upstart program.

The Flyers blew out Virginia Tech in the semifinal on Tuesday, 89–62. Obi Toppin, the 6’9″, sophomore met his season average with 24 points and three more Flyers scored in double-figures.
Eight Dayton guys got at least 12 minutes of playing time. Eleven guys scored.
Dayton has proved worthy of a shot to take on Kansas in this spot. It beat a Georgia team, which nearly knocked off Michigan State on Tuesday, by 19 in the first round.
