Thursday night Big Ten action will see the Iowa Hawkeyes take on the Maryland Terrapins. Both teams are extremely good this season and both are looking to keep pace with Illinois and Michigan State for the top of the conference.

Iowa Hawkeyes

Clearly Luka Garza has been the best player for Iowa this season. The big man is averaging 23 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per game. It is easy to say this, but the Hawkeyes success will depend on how Garza plays.

Iowa’s defense has also been pretty decent this season. Overall, they are allowing 69.8 points per game. In road games, this does increase to 72.6 points per game. However, in true conference road games, they are allowing 80.3 points per game. This could be a problem
Maryland Terrapins
The Terrapins got a big win on the road against Indiana, pushing their conference record to 6-3. They now have won three games in a row. Also, note that the Terrapins are a perfect 11-0 at home, so this is going to be a tough game for Iowa.
Maryland’s offense is averaging 71.8 points per game this season. At home, this average increases to 74.7 points per game, so not as much on an increase as you might think. Now in home conference games, they average just 64.5 points per game, so they have struggled to score consistently.
The Terps have two guys who do majority of their scoring, which can be a bad thing if either of them have a down game.
