Siena was one of my preseason small conference sleepers but they did not get off to a good start.
They are playing much better now though so hopefully I am not getting back to them too late.
These teams are tied in the MAAC standings at the moment so this is a big one for the most prominent programs in the league.
Iona Gaels
The Gaels are usually known for pushing the pace and being among scoring leaders but that has not been the case this season – they are averaging just under 80ppg.
Jordan Washington is a good sized PF for the MAAC and is leading the team with 18ppg. All of his numbers are up from a year ago.

He is the only size threat for the Gaels who only one other forward listed in their regular rotation. Taylor Bessick makes sure that his presence is known on the floor with his 6’9″, 250lb frame.
Iona has a name you know in Sam Casselll Jr. He started his career at UConn but didn’t play much. He is getting a shot and averaging 11pg.
With him in the backcourt are Jon Severe and E.J. Crawford. Both are dangerous, making more than 40% of their three point shots.
This is the first meeting between these two teams this season. They split during the regular season last year with both teams winning on the road.
Siena Saints
The Saints have won 5 of 6 and I am feeling somewhat vindicated as they prove they are not garbage. Its just too bad they made me so gun shy.
This is an experience group led by two seniors. Brett Bisping and Marquis Wright. Bisping gives them a scoring presence down low, but he can also knock down shots while Wright runs the show. His shooting is down from a year ago so perhaps the ceiling for this team is even higher.

Javion Ogunyemi gives them even more size inside, especially for the MAAC. They are going to want to exploit that in this matchup.
The ATS record isn’t good but Siena has lost at home only once this season. A win seems very likely.
