Kudos to the Ivy for bucking tradition and adding a tournament this season. I also really love the format with just the top four teams qualifying so the regular season really matters.
These two teams will be in it for sure as the top two seeds so this could be a preview of the finals when it will be all on the line. Princeton took the earlier game this year at Harvard by a point.
After four straight trips to the NCAAs the Crimson fell off last year, partly due to injuries. This season they have a great chance of getting back where they belong, scaring bigger programs like Houston and Boston College, who they beat on the road this season.
I am not sure how but Tommy Amaker has been able to recruit to Harvard. Freshman leading scorer Bryce Aiken had options but chose the Crimson. They are going to need him to regroup after scoring just 7 points in their last game.
Syani Chambers has been around forever. The senior is very reliable and provides a good foundation for Aiken to do his thing. He has been key to the team’s success in the past.
Seth Towns is another freshman who is second on the team in scoring this season. He seems to be getting more and more comfortable as evidenced by the fact that two of his three 20+ point games have come in the last couple of weeks.
The Tigers have been perfect in Ivy play this season, they have been covering too at 8-4ATS in league play. I know you have to factor in the competition but they are giving up a scant 61ppg.
Devin Cannady has emerged as their top scorer but he was more efficient last year as a freshman. This year he is taking more shots and scoring more points and become the focus of the offence, especially in crunch time because of his ability to make free throws – 92%.
Spencer Weisz allows Cannady to focus on scoring by doing the dirty work on the boards and directing the offense – he leads the team in rebounding and assists.
They are not big producers but the Tigers have bigs on the roster – three players 6’10” or taller. They are not great shot blockers but their size discourages forays to the hoop.
CBB Betting Trends:
- HARV are 5-1-2 ATS in their last 8 road games.
- HARV are 17-4-2 ATS in their last 23 games overall.
- Under is 9-1 in PRIN last 10 overall.
- Under is 9-1 in PRIN last 10 vs. Ivy League.
- PRIN are 37-15 ATS in their last 52 Fri. games.
Free Harvard Crimson vs. Princeton Tigers NCAAB Prediction:
The first meeting was close with the Tigers emerging on top. This game is nice for bragging rights but is unlikely to do anything to the standings with Princeton ahead by a couple of games with two to play.
Harvard has some great ATS numbers this season. More specifically they covered in every road game save one all season long. These teams are very close.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: Tigers -7.5.
Look for Princeton to be favoured in this one. The conference tournament is going to be in Philly so even if they fall it won’t really matter much. Could affect motivation, though this is is Princeton vs. Harvard.
