The Georgetown Hoyas are in a great postion to take third-place within the highly competitive Big East conference with a win over the Marquette Golden Eagles on Saturday afternoon. However, they must play much better on both sides of the ball after a blowout loss to the Blue Demons of DePaul in their last outing.
The Marquette Golden Eagles are comfy in second place within the conference, just behind the Villanova Wildcats. However, with a win and a potential loss by the top-seeded team, and the Golden Eagles can find themselves representing the top seed within the conference in next week’s tournament.

The Hoyas have certainly had their ups and downs this season on both sides of the ball. For the season, their offense is averaging 80 points per game on 45% shooting.
However, versus cellar team DePaul, the Hoyas stunk it up in shooting 35% on the night along with 25% from long-range as leading scorers Jesse Govan along with Matt McClung combined to go 4-16 from the floor on the night. Unfortunately, the Hoyas have dropped four of their last five road games entering this matchup. They also suffered a three-point loss to Marquette earlier in the season as the Golden Eagles were able to rally in the second half en route to the slim victory.

nonetheless, the Golden Eagles let one slip away versus the Seton Hall Pirates in their last time out. They relinquished a seven point halftime lead while being outscored by 15 points in the second half en route to their third-straight defeat.
As stated, Marquette has a slim chance to recapture first within the division with a win and a loss by Villanova. However, they must play better on offense, in particular, as they allowed DePaul to hold them to just 38% shooting.
