Duke Blue Devils vs. Virginia Tech Hokies Basketball Betting Trends
- Duke is 19-1 straight up in all games this season.
- As favorites, the Blue Devils have a 16-1 straight-up record.
- Virginia Tech is 7-2 against the spread as underdogs.
- Also, the Hokies have a 6-4 straight-up record in their last 10 games.
- Duke is 3-0 against the spread in their last 3 games.
- Additionally, Virginia Tech has hit the under in their last 3 games.
Blue Devils Hokies Free Pick: Virginia Tech +11.5
Here is my Blue Devils Hokies free pick: I’m taking Virginia Tech plus the points. Duke has been excellent all season, sitting at 19-1 and taking care of business when favored.
They’ve covered three straight, and the talent gap is real.
That said, Virginia Tech has made a living in the underdog role, going 7-2 against the spread when catching points. They tend to stay connected even when the matchup looks lopsided.
The Hokies are 6-4 over their last ten, and defense has been a big reason. Three straight unders point to a team that’s comfortable slowing games down.
For one thing, that style matters when you’re trying to stay inside a big number.
This feels like a game where Duke controls the flow, but Virginia Tech controls the margin.
Duke will get its runs, but separation isn’t always automatic against teams that defend and rebound.
Virginia Tech has also been tough at home, building a 14-2 record by forcing opponents to earn everything.
In particular, they don’t speed up just because they’re trailing. Duke doesn’t need to press, which can keep scoring bursts shorter. The Hokies don’t have to win stretches, just avoid getting buried.
At any rate, the spread feels a bit inflated given how Virginia Tech plays at home.
I’m backing Virginia Tech +11.5 and trusting them to keep this within reach.
