Columbia has been inconsistent lately, similar to what they’ve been all season. They have lost three of their last five with two of those losses only by one possession. The two wins, however, were both by double digit figures and they scored 75 and 86, respectively. Most recently, they lost to Cornell by 12 on the road. They hope to get back into the win column here.
Although Columbia has been skidding as a team, Mike Smith has been sensational all season. He is the only player on the team averaging a double digit figure per game with 20.7 points per game. He also leads all Lions in assists per game and steals per game. He shoots near 40% from the three and is one of the only players that keeps this team afloat.
Columbia doesn’t produce much on the offensive side of the ball, only averaging 65.7 points per game. As a team, they don’t shoot the three ball well, shooting 32.4% on the season. Don’t expect that to play a part in this game, at least while Columbia has the ball.
Yale has been playing sound basketball lately, winning their last four games. In each of those wins, they scored north of 70 points and in one game they cracked 100 points. Their most recent victory was against Brown where they won by 11 points. They haven’t lost since the new year and look poised to make a run in this year’s tournament.
Yale has three players who average over 12 points per game. Leading the charge is forward Paul Atkinson with 16.9 points per game and shoots a sensational 63.4% from the field. Jordan Bruner is another essential part to the Bulldog’s success, averaging 12.2 points per game and leads the team in rebounds per game with 9.6.
Yale is much more sound on the offensive side of the ball. They average 72.5 points per game and shoots over 36% from beyond the arc. When playing at home, they average over 78 points per game, so expect them to score and score in bunches.

Free Columbia Lions vs. Yale Bulldogs NCAAB Prediction: Yale wins and wins decisively, but 16.5 is too rich for my blood.
Yale should win this game by a double digit figure. It could get ugly, but I’ll take Columbia here with the points and cross my fingers. I would hope that Columbia makes it a respectable game and puts up a fight. We should know in the first 8 minutes if this game will be a blowout. Be Advised.
