The final NCAA Tournament for Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski begins on Friday in Greenville, where his 2-seeded Duke Blue Devils will meet Cal State Fullerton.
Only once since 1983 had Duke missed the NCAA Tournament prior to last season.
The Blue Devils missed the Dance last year but returned most of those from the disappointment and re-loaded with a stacked 2021 recruiting class.

The Big West Conference Tournament Champion by virtue of a one-point victory over Long Beach, the regular season champion, Cal State Fullerton will dance for the first time since 2018.
The Titans were a 15-seed then under Head Coach Dedrique Taylor as they are now. They lost by 26 points to Purdue in that one.
This year’s team is veteran laden with four seniors leading the way. EJ Anosike, a 6’7″ forward, and Damari Milstead, a 6’2″ guard, both average double-figure scoring.
But will Fullerton have the size to both Duke? Anosike is the team’s leading rebounder at over eight per game. Vincent Lee, who stands 6’8″ is the tallest player in the rotation.
An underdog’s chance is only as good as its control of the boards. If Fullerton gets beat on the offensive glass, it will be a blowout.
Duke Blue Devils
Three top-20 freshman have reinvigorated the Duke basketball program this season.
Paolo Banchero leads the way. The 6’10” forward from Seattle averages 17 points, nearly eight rebounds, and over three assists this season.
Trevor Keels and AJ Griffin both average double-figures. Keels is more of a penetrator, Griffin a three-point sharpshooter.
Mixed in with the freshman are sophomores Mark Williams and Jeremy Roach and junior Wendell Moore, a well-rounded perimeter player who averages 5.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game.
Krzyzewski finished the regular season with a large home loss against archival North Carolina.
Then Duke got beaten badly in the ACC Championship Game by Virginia Tech.
Before those two losses, Duke had just four losses that came by a total of nine points.
