Duke had to beat a Texas Tech team that looked like a national champion to get into the West Regional Final.
Now Coach K caps his final Final Four by beating Arkansas, which comes in with an even better record than the Red Raiders had.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Arkansas lost to two teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament this year — Alabama and Tennessee, both on the road, by a combined five points.
This team runs on Musselman and JD Notae, a senior transfer by way of Jacksonville of the Atlantic Sun Conference.
Notae took 29 shots to scored 21 points against Gonzaga but that wasn’t a bad thing. He had six assists, his most in a game since February, and wore down Gonzaga’s defense.
Jaylin Williams played about as well as he ever has with a double-double, three assists and at least one drawn charge.
Coach Musselman has this program in unchartered territory. Its win over Gonzaga was its program’s first ever against a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Arkansas can match Duke’s athleticism. It may not be quite as big but its quicker.
It must use that quickness to its advantage, especially on the defensive end. A little full-court pressure may just expose Duke’s ball-handling.
Duke Blue Devils
Duke needed all of its offensive firepower to beat Texas Tech in the Regional Semifinal.
Banchero and Griffin made three threes each and finished with 22 and 11, respectively.
Roach had 15 and five assists and made tons of plays at the end of the game. He’s the guy who would have to handle most of Arkansas’s pressure.
He turned it over four times against Tech and you can’t help but wonder if Duke would have had enough, had Roach had less in the tank than he did at the end of the game.
Keels would have to step up and help handle backcourt pressure. He only played 14 minutes on Thursday, missed three shots, and committed a foul. And he was Duke’s leader off the bench.
If this becomes a war of attrition, Arkansas may just have the advantage.
CBB Betting Trends:
- Razorbacks are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog.
- Razorbacks are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
- Blue Devils are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
Free Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Duke Blue Devils NCAAB Summary:
Arkansas can win this game by wearing Duke down, by hounding Roach and Keels, and exposing Duke’s two most glaring weaknesses: guard play and depth.
If that happens, the game will be ugly and low-scoring.
If that doesn’t happen, Duke will win. It has way more scoring and, unlike against Texas Tech, doesn’t have to worry about being pushed around.
Can Arkansas even bring pressure? And can it sustain it?
Each win brings you deeper into the NCAA Tournament, where experiences becomes ever more important.
