Arizona State, after a meteoric rise, is one loss away from falling out of the rankings. If that happens Washington may be good enough to replace the Sun Devils.

Washington has that big win over Kansas and another at USC. A win here and suddenly they start to look pretty tournament worthy.

Arizona State Sun Devils

Arizona State has to turn things around. No matter the wins they have out of conference the selection committee does not look favourably on teams that are not at least .500 in their league (they are currently 4-5).

Against tougher conference opponents the Sun Devils have had more difficulty scoring. They are a small pace team and if the shots are not falling they do not really have a different way to turn.

Tra Holder has scored in the twenties the last couple of game but there were games last month when he score just 4 and 9 back to back. They can’t survive with him at those kinds of levels. He is the engine.

A big problem the Sun Devils have been having is competing with bigs. They do not have a ton of size and other than Romello White do not get a lot of production inside.

Washington Huskies

The Huskies have a solid record and this week might make or break this year. Both Arizona teams visit and with them a chance to bag some marketable wins.

This is an athletic Huskies team, probably with a little more size than Arizona State. They are not as experienced. Their top scorer is just a freshman.

That would be local kid Jaylen Nowell. He is putting up good numbers but I hope he stays at least another year or two at UW. He could be a PAC 12 star.

Nowell and Noah Dickerson are two very productive players. They are both very athletic, in fact the whole team is. I think they will be able to stifle ASU which is similar in style to Kansas.
