The Alabama Crimson Tide travel to Vanderbilt for the first of two conference games this season vs. the Commodores.
With wins over the SEC’s elite, and setbacks to the league’s worst, Alabama is a talented, but highly inconsistent team often playing to the level of its competition.
Meanwhile, Vanderbilt has lost ten-consecutive contests, and has yet to win in SEC play. The Commodores haven’t earned victory since Dec. 31, 2018.
Can Bryce Drew’s frustrated bunch upset the Tide and finally notch a win in 2019?
Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama has proven its stripes as a formidable challenge to any team in the nation. The Tide has downed three ranked opponents –Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State– while giving #1 ranked Tennessee all the Vols could handle in late January.
However, Alabama also gave Texas A&M its lone conference victory — and this, after losing to three non-descript Mid Major opponents.
Most recently, Alabama rebounded from a 21-point defeat vs. Auburn to upend Georgia 89-74.
The Tide gained 49 points from explosive wings Tevin Mack (25) and Kira Lewis Jr. (24) to breeze past UGA following a near-gridlocked first half. Alabama will need to remain focused opposite Vanderbilt.
Because if the home-standing Commodores are taken lightly, they too could gain a first SEC win this season against an inconsistent Alabama group.
Though, that scenario seems far-fetched given Vanderbilt’s extended lack of success.
Arkansas added its name to the long list of Vanderbilt conquerors on Feb 5. Razorback standout Daniel Gafford exploited a prone Commodore defense that night while notching 28 points, as Arkansas turned Vanderbilt back 69-66.
To have a trap-game chance Saturday, the Commodores will need its four double-digit scorers –Garland, Lee, Shittu, Nesmith– and any number of secondary and tertiary players to step up and hold court.
CBB Betting Trends:

Free Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Vanderbilt Commodores NCAAB Prediction:
This contest isn’t quite cut-and-dry in Alabama’s favor, but it is very close to being so. As mentioned, the Tide does play to the level of its competition. And against a team that hasn’t won this year, some sloppy play could occur.
But even if things get sloppy, Alabama’s big-game success and talent-level should still prove too much for a severely wounded Vanderbilt squad.
4* Free CBB Betting Pick: Alabama -2
Alabama will outclass the Commodores early in the second half to claim another league win. Vanderbilt’s first 2019 victory party will be further delayed.
NCAAB Free Score Prediction: Alabama 86 – Vanderbilt 80
