Friday, November 25th, finds the Washington Wizards facing the Miami Heat in the third of four scheduled contests and the backside of a baseball series in Miami while the Wizards will host the final contest on April 7th
In the front side of the baseball set, the Heat outlasted the Wizards 113-105.

For a franchise like the Wizards, which isn’t considered a market free agents flock to I get why owner Ted Leonsis commits long-term to his stars.
On the other hand, the fact Bradley Beal inked a five-year $251 million deal and is the ONLY player in the association with a no-trade cause is reason for pause.
Especially, when the team is 18 games into the season and Beal has already missed a third of those contests. I’m just not convinced this is the player you hitch your wagon to with the hopes of winning a championship let alone becoming a perennial playoff participant.
Offensively, the Wizards score 108.4 points per game ranking 29th overall. Washington shoots 46.7% from the field tied with the 76ers at 16th and 34.6% from the perimeter tied with the Rockets in 19th.
Defensively, the Wizards allow opponents to score 109.4 per game tied (Heat) eighth. Efficiency-wise Washington is in a three-way tie for first (Nets, Wolves) holding opponents to (44.6%) field goal percentage and rank 24th for opponent perimeter percentage (36.8%).
Bradley Beal (quad), Monte Morris (ankle), Rui Hachimura (ankle), and Johnny Davis (groin) are all questionable. Delon Wright (hamstring) is out indefinitely.
Miami Heat
A scheduling dynamic that’s sure to draw more scrutiny next season is the baseball-style two-game sets. The positives are the reduced travel time/costs and the impact on players’ health.
Typically the sets result in a split (unless it’s a tanking team or one with copious injuries) and that’s rang true so far. Aside from the Jazz sweeping the Grizzlies the only other sweeps were against tanking or injured clubs.
The Heat (and Raptors) in particular might feel it’s unfair since they’ll play seven of these baseball sets while the Knicks and Bulls play a single set and the Nets play two.
At season end if Miami finds themselves having to participate in the play-in tournament these sets may end up getting pointed to as the reason.
All this adversity is impacting the team’s production with them dropping statistically, particularly on the offensive side of the court. The Heat score 108.5 points per game (28th) while they shoot 44.4% from the field (27th) and 33.7% from the perimeter (23rd).
Defensively, the Heat allow opponents to score 109.6 points per game (8th). Miami opponents shoot 47.6 percent from the field (23rd) and are tied in 10th (Blazers, Rockets, and Nuggets) with 35.5% opponent perimeter efficiency.
Bam Adebayo (knee), Haywood Highsmith (hip), and Udonis Haslem (personal) are probable. Tyler Herro (ankle), Gabe Vincent (knee), and DeWayne Dedmon (foot) are questionable.
Max Strus (shoulder) and Duncan Robinson (ankle) are doubtful and Jimmy Butler (knee) was downgraded to out. Victor Oladipo (knee), and Omer Yurtseven (ankle) are out indefinitely.

In the last two matches, he averaged 24.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks. Plus he’s getting to the charity stripe and hitting 3-pointers averaging 10 free throws and shooting 52.9% from deep on 8.5 attempts.
THIS is why Miami wanted him so badly because he’s one of the few veteran talents who can raise their game when the team needs it most. And with the Heat still far from healthy, he’ll do it again Friday as they get the rare baseball sweep.
