Week two of the season is underway with the Toronto Raptors visiting the San Antonio Spurs. Both teams are competing in a back-to-back set having played on Sunday.

Toronto has entered this season with optimism that they can return to the postseason. Through three games they are keeping teams close but letting the games slip away in the fourth quarter and clutch time.

San Antonio, meanwhile, should be mid-way through a rebuild, but with Victor Wembanyama looking like he’s not going to wait another year, the team has seemingly gathered around him to vie for a playoff spot this year.

Toronto was 4-2 in the preseason and enters this season with two losses already accumulated (Bucks, Mavericks), along with one win (Hawks).

San Antonio had an excellent preseason, registering a 4-0 record, and continues that assault in the regular season, winning all three matches so far.

Toronto held the 20th-ranked offense (108.0) and eighth-ranked defense (106.6) while holding the 12th-best net rating (+1.4) and ranked ninth in pace (105.6).

The latter is a category Toronto is intent on changing this season as they utilize a full complement of the bench (Rajakovic often goes 11 or 12 deep) to ensure the team keeps the pace brisk throughout 48 minutes.

This game might be the biggest test the Spurs have faced so far with the prospect of stopping Brandon Ingram and dealing with Scottie Barnes, but I still like San Antonio to prevail.
