Toronto Raptors vs. Orlando Magic Odds & Last 5
Last year, Toronto won the regular series three games to one, while this is the second of three meetings between the clubs this year, with the Raptors up 1-0.
In the last five games, the Raptors are 4-1, having excelled in their recent Western road trip. They reside in the fourth seed with a record of 29-20, a game behind the Celtics and Knicks for third and second, and are in a virtual tie with the Cavaliers, but since they own the tiebreak register higher on the ladder.
The win versus the Heat ended a four-game losing streak for the Magic. They sit in the seventh seed with a 24-22 record. Orlando is 3-2 through the last five matches and resides in the eighth seed with a 24-22 record. The Magic will play five of their next seven games at home.
The Magic are the favorites by a 1.5 spread with an over/under of 220.5 points.
Raptors Stats
Toronto ranks 21st offensively (113.6) and sixth defensively (112.1) while holding the 13th-best net rating (+1.5) and ranks tied for 22nd in pace (99.16).
The East’s fourth seed averages 113.6 points per game while its opponents average 112.1 points. In terms of dimes and boards, Toronto averages 29.4 (fourth) and 43.2 (20th), respectively.
Toronto’s team leaders are Brandon Ingram for scoring (21.7 points), Immanuel Quickley for assists (6.1), Scottie Barnes for rebounds (8.3), steals (1.3), and blocks (1.5). Also of note, Barnes is the only player in the league with at least 30 steals and 30 blocks, and leads clutch time with the most blocks.
As for the perimeter, Toronto struggles from deep shooting an average of 34.2% while four* players shoot above the league average.

Toronto Raptors vs. Orlando Magic bottom line:
While the East is jumbled closely together, the Raptors have a 3.5 game edge over Orlando, so winning this game is essential for the Magic.
Don’t expect a big 3-point shooting explosion, though, as both these clubs struggle from deep.

Raptors Magic Free Pick: Raptors +1.5
Here is my Raptors Magic free pick.
Orlando is in a bit of free fall, having only won consecutive games once since December 31st. Toronto, on the other hand, has found a rhythm and is meshing, albeit the recent loss wasn’t ideal, given it was against the team they are battling with on the seeding ladder.
As for injuries, Franz Wagner remains out, and likewise, Jakob Poeltl is nowhere near returning for the Raptors, leaving them susceptible to tall rim-protecting teams like the Magic.
All-Star reserves will be selected on February 1st, and both teams are hoping their guys get the nod. Scottie Barnes is the likeliest to be selected, while Brandon Ingram and Paolo Banchero will hope they get the tap too.
Another commonality (at least on paper) is that both teams struggle offensively. In truth, the Raptors have discovered a better offensive rhythm and seem to have solved the zone defense teams have been throwing at them.
The deciding factor for me was the Raptors typically bounce back after a loss and are among the league’s best on the road with a 16-9 record while also winning ATS on the road (16-9).

NBA Betting Tweet Of The Day
After Orlando’s win at Miami, I asked #Magic forward Paolo Banchero about his relationship with Jamahl Mosley:
“Whatever those reports are, I wouldn’t say those are true, in my opinion,” Banchero said.
He added: “Those reports, I don’t know where that’s coming from.”
