Saturday, November 19th, finds the Toronto Raptors facing the Atlanta Hawks for the second of three scheduled contests. Toronto will host the final game on January 14th. The Raptors routed the Hawks 139-109 in the initial meeting on October 31st.
Toronto last played Wednesday and although severely shorthanded defeated the Heat 112-104 while Atlanta also played Wednesday getting annihilated 101-126 by the Celtics.
Last season, the Raptors won three of the four contests against Atlanta and own the all-time record of 50 to 49.
Toronto Raptors
Injuries are a part of every season, but the Raptors are dealing with more than their fair share amidst one of the tougher opening schedules. Four of their top six players were missing on Wednesday including their best player Pascal Siakam and more players were added to the list before the game finished.
Otto Porter Jr. is in a walking boot (fractured toe), Gary Trent Jr. (hip) didn’t travel with the team, while Dalano Banton (ankle) and Chris Boucher (non-COVID illness) were new additions to the injured list.
The Boucher loss is tough given he’s been almost single-handedly providing the scoring, rebounding, and energy off the bench.
The good news for Toronto is Pascal Siakam has begun on-court activities so they’re hoping he’ll be back in approximately a week. Precious Achiuwa suffered torn ligaments in that ankle sprain so he’s expected to be out for a while.
On offense, the Raptors score 111.9 points per game ranking 16th overall. Toronto shoots 45.2 percent from the field tied for 24th with the Mavericks and 34.3% from the perimeter tied in 21st with the Bucks.
Defensively, the Raptors allow opponents to average 109.1 points per game ranking seventh overall. Toronto allows their opponents to shoot 47.9% percent from the field tied with the Heat in 25th and 36.1% tied 18th with the Mavericks.
Atlanta Hawks
The last two games for the Hawks are sort of indicative of how the Hawks’ season has gone. Monday they trounced the Bucks (121-106) but Boston who was playing on consecutive days looked like the fresher team pounding Atlanta 126-101.
On the season, the Hawks rank 11th in scoring with 114.6 points per game. Atlanta is tied for 21st (with Memphis) shooting 46.3 percent from the field and ranks 27th on the perimeter shooting 32.2 percent.
Defensively, the Hawks allow opponents to score 113.9 points per game ranking 18th overall. Atlanta allows their opponents to shoot 45.8 percent from the field tying the Celtics in eighth and 33.3% from the perimeter which is the fourth-best mark.
Bogdan Bogdanovic (knee) is out indefinitely.

Free Toronto Raptors vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA Prediction:
Here’s the thing – normally I’d expect Atlanta to be ready to crush the Raptors in response to that earlier embarrassing 30-point loss.
But, this team doesn’t ever seem to do what you expect. For example, Boston played the night prior and had to erase a deficit and battle to the buzzer whereas the Hawks were idle but got blown out.
In their first win against the Bucks they were missing Trae Young but didn’t just win they ousted the Bucks (117-98). Essentially, picking the Hawks to do what they should do hasn’t proven rewarding.
So, I’m still going to lean toward the Hawks collecting the ‘W’ because of the sheer number of Raptors missing but I like the Raptors to keep it close.
