Thunder vs. Spurs Free Series Predictions: Guards
It’s obvious with the guard situation for the Thunder it goes through Russell Westbrook. Prior to the Thunder’s clinch, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban called Westbrook just an all star, not a superstar.
Westbrook went on to finish Game 5 with 36 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists. He took over in the entire series and is a man on a mission right now. Along side him is Andre Roberson and Dion Waiters at the SG position. Neither will put up big stat lines, but they offer a solid 3 point option for the Thunder.
For the Spurs, Tony Parker and Danny Green are experienced and the chemistry between the two is on a different level. The two weren’t asked to do too much against the Grizzlies, but with Green’s ability to shoot the 3 and Parker’s ability to set up his teammates, these two are in for a big series.
Don’t leave out the fact that Manu Ginobili is behind Green, which offers a ton of depth for the Spurs.
Verdict: Edge here to the Spurs. Russell Westbrook does have the ability to take the game over at any point, but with this Spurs defense, things will be tough on him. Offensively, given the combo of Parker-Green-Ginobili, they offer a solid compliment of shooting and ability to drive.
Thunder vs. Spurs Free Series Predictions: Forwards and Center
The Thunder have a solid F/C combo. With Kevin Durant, Steven Adams, and Serge Ibaka all can score and poise a solid threat defensively.
Adams and Ibaka are the biggest keys here. The Thunder need production from both these guys consistently. They’ll have two of the toughest tasks in guarding Tim Duncan and LeMarcus Aldridge.
The Spurs With Tim Duncan, LeMarcus Aldridge, and Kawhi Leonard is just so talented.
All three can be the leading scorer in any given game, but their impact defensively is equally as huge. Leonard, the defensive player of the year, is given the daunting tasks of guarding the opposing teams best player. He’ll get Kevin Durant in this series and he’s already caused him plenty of fits during the regular season.
Verdict: Huge edge to the Spurs here. They’re more talented all around down low, even despite Durant. Look for Leonard to shut him down while Aldridge and Duncan have big offensive series’.
Thunder vs. Spurs Free Series Predictions:
The Spurs have a huge edge all around here.
They’re a more complete team and have more than just 2 playmakers.
Look for Leonard to really give Durant fits, while Parker and Green slow down Westbrook. The Thunder will need to steal a game or two early here, or the Spurs will run away with this series.
