Here is my Spurs Pelicans free pick. Although I typically shy away from huge spreads, there are always exceptions to the rule. And, in this case, the Spurs have ample reason to get out to an early lead so they can wrap up this match early to rest their players for the quarter-final match they’ll play on Wednesday.
Considering Wembanyama and Castle have missed 10 (7-3) and nine games (6-3)respectively but the team is still winning is a bonus for the Spurs. Heading into the NBA Cup quarter finals no doubt they’re hoping to get at least one of them back.
Injuries are playing a factor on both sides of the hardwood as the Pelicans are missing Williamson (adductor) and Dejounte Murray (leg) while Herb Jones (calf) and Jordan Poole (quad) are day-to-day.
As for the Spurs Castle (hip), Luke Kornet (ankle), and Jordan McLaughlan (hamstring) are all listed as day-to-day, while Wemby (calf) remains listed as out (see tweet of the day for an update on this situation).
Although the Pelicans have put up more of a fight lately, I still like the Spurs to win and cover.
As a side note, keep an eye on what the Pels might do with Trey Murphy, who would be a great addition to a club needing just one more piece to push them over the top.
