Here is my Spurs Grizzlies free pick. We still get hints of Morant’s athleticism, but watching this team play doesn’t elicit the same vibes as a few seasons ago, when this team frankly was playing like how the Suns are now (gritty and tough).
Rather, the Grizz will put in three great quarters regardless of who plays, but inevitably find themselves going cold for a small pocket of time that allows their opponent to pull away.
Morant continues to struggle at times and the team isn’t feasting when he does play (6-12). He’s shooting 40.1% from the field and 20.8% from the perimeter. Sure makes you wonder if he’s regressed that much or simply needs a new team to reenergize the high flyer of two seasons ago.
With so many Grizzlies out or uncertain to play, coupled with the prospect of a Wemby return, this feels like a no-brainer. On top of that, the Spurs haven’t played to their potential in recent outings, so they will be fired up to get back on track. Therefore, I’m rolling with them to win and cover.
