The Sacramento Kings beat the New Orleans Pelicans in their last outing (final score 105-99), while out in Denver the Golden State Warriors got blown out by the Denver Nuggets 132-110.
The Sacramento Kings were able to pull out the win over the New Orleans Pelicans, despite the fact that they had a couple of early scares. In the first half Sacramento’s defense against Anthony Davis was what held them back.
Davis scored 24 points on them through just the first two quarters of play. But in the second half that all changed, as the Kings put Matt Barnes on him, and he stepped up big time.
The Kings forward held A.D. to just 8 points in the second half, but more importantly he didn’t allow him to get off anything easy.
The Pelicans star shot just 11-24 from the field, and a lot of that had to do with Barnes defense on him. Matt Barnes did a fantastic job forcing him into taking tough, contested jumpers, and Davis obliged.
But next game they’re going to need to stop three more stars in order to pull out the upset win over Golden State.
If Sacramento hopes to win they need to key in defensively, and force Durant, Thompson and Curry into taking contested jumpers. If they can do that they’ll make it four wins in a row, however if they don’t, this is going to be a long night for them.
Golden State Warriors
After allowing Denver to come out of the gates with a bang (outscored Golden State 42-30 in just the first quarter), the Denver Nuggets continued piling on the points the rest of the game.
Denver outplayed Golden State in every quarter expect for one, and that was what put the Warriors behind all night, and they had no answer to digging themselves out of the hole they’d dug themselves into.
An it also didn’t help that the Warriors couldn’t even defend their own shadows. I mean they allowed Denver to shoot a staggering 54.5% from the field, and 60% from deep.
Those shooting percentages really told the whole story to the game, as Golden State just had no answer to containing the Nuggets offensive attack all night. However, they can’t have this happen again next outing.
The Warriors are going up against another team fighting for the eighth seed, so Sacramento’s going to play with a high energy. That means Golden State needs to do a better job stopping them, if they’re to not make it two losses in a row.

Golden State is just too talented of a team to go against. So because of that, I’m picking them to win this game, especially since they just came off of a tough loss at the hands of the Denver Nuggets.
